Retro Gaming

Post by Ferret Roll » Thu May 07, 2015 12:27 am

Any fans of older games on board (aside from Neverwinter Nights)? I've recently been plugging in my old consoles and hitting them up. Most recently I've been playing Spyro for the Playstation, numbers 1, 2, 3. Currently going back through and brushing completion up to 100% on each of them.

Also played a bit of Smash Bros. for the n64, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles for the Genesis. I'm looking for a few Super Nintendo games to try, my current line-up is pretty much the Mega-Man X Series. Recommendations are welcome!

Loved LoZ: ALTTP. I actually played the GBA revamp but never the original. Haven't tried the other four yet.

FIVE MORE FOR THE LIST.

I never played Crash back when Playstation was current. Actually forgot about him entirely...but he's definitely one to add to the list.

FOUR MORE FOR THE LIST.

Nothing too much as of late.
Did recently get Populous: The Beginning from GOG, and been playing that.
It's as good as I remembered; although not graphically!
Nostalgy made it 3D in my mind; it's more of sprite-2D mix.

Beep boop.

Soul Blazer

It's not as well designed as the best RPGs of its era, but it's fun.

Huge fan of all the Megaman games for the NES as well as games like Mario, Zelda, Punchout ect... Although not retro, I like to dust off Rome: Total war every now and then.

I NEVER OWNED AN SNES>

Well, until once. And I bought Mario RPG on it, and I still have it on Wii.

I'm 18, so some of these may not be that retro to some of you all, but they qualify to me :P

Zork, Diablo 2, Baulder's Gate, Quake, Descent, the older Zelda's(especially Ocarina of Time N64), Unreal Tournament, Super Smash Brothers(N64), and I quite liked Pong games when I was a bit younger.

lately I just stick to emulator games on my computer and phone though, often times modded versions of the originals.

I'll toss in the Canadian retro staple equal to Oregon Trail. We were required to play this one for Canadian geography class in my school days on the good old C64 (Ya I know I'm old. Shhhhh)

The Zelda Series:
- A link the the past for snes
- Ocarina of Time for N64
- Majora's Mask for N64. You're doing yourself a disservice if you stick to the main quest on this
one.
- Oracle of Ages and Seasons (GBA)
The Final fantasy Series (these have many remakes across generates) FF 3 to 6 are on snes)
Mario (All-Stars, World and 64)

Snes:
Super Metroid
Chrono trigger (also released for the Nintendo DS)
Super Mario RPG
Donkey Kong Country Series
Secret Of Mana
Illusion Of Gaia

Gameboy advance:
Golden sun (both of them, basically one story)

N64:
Star Wars: Shadows of an Empire

GOG.com's move for their Galaxy Client Beta will certainly encourage more retro games!
