Tyrants of the Moonsea
As many of our players know I was largely absent from Arelith development for much of the last year, and was unable to give exact reasons why.
Well with Tyrants of the Moonsea being released this week I'll finally be able to talk about it, and share news of the many NWN resources it includes.
I was the Lead Level Designer on this title, and recruited both Action Replay and Anatida for the project.
Whether or not our players buy this title, we shall see its effect on Arelith before long - because with hundreds of new resources this is going to be a huge deal for NWN.
I'll be posting at length following the game's formal release.

Fair play Irongron, i'll definitely be picking it up, I enjoy a lot of the single player content and I like the last Premium module too.
Will be nice to see all the new stuff in action also

Re: Tyrants of the Moonsea
It's a crazy amount of content, easily comparible to the official expansions. I'll be sharing screenshots of some of it as soon as I can, and easily the most exciting thing about Tyrants is what it will mean for Arelith as we gradually migrate all of this content in game.
I'll be reiterating this a few times though, but will start now. This is NOT an official expansion to NWN, and thus our players will NOT have to purchase Tyrants of the Moonsea to continue playing Arelith. What will need to happen (to save us from bloating our HAK package) is for Beamdog to swifly update NWN with all the new content, and that's something I have no control over.
The screenshots, when they come though, will be mind-blowing. I've been desperate to share this stuff with our community for so long, and in a few days I'll finally be able to.
Oh, and Arelith gets a 'Special Thanks' credit in the game, which is super nice!
You've all paid an opportunity cost by my being otherwise engaged this last year, but the payoff in new content is going to be massive.

OMG those screenies. I love the one with the wooden walkways. And the flowers! Brillaint. Really, really brilliant!
This too shall pass.
(I now have a DM Discord (I hope) It's DM GrumpyCat#7185 but please keep in mind I'm very busy IRL so I can't promise how quick I'll get back to you.)

Worth taking a long look at the walkways, for that's an update to the existing Forest tileset, with towering elven treehouses lit by lanterns.DM GrumpyCat wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2019 8:07 pmOMG those screenies. I said Myon was scheduled for an update at some point, now you know why.
Re: Tyrants of the Moonsea
Wow, just wow. You guys are really awesome. Definitely going to purchase the module, it's been so long since I played a NWN single player. Is Beamdog going to distribute it or is it a Steam only content?

Very impressive - and cool that you were so involved!
When is it being released?

Re: Tyrants of the Moonsea
I honestly don't know. I actually have very little to do with Beamdog, though I'd expect it to be both.
As I said above though, this content will make its way to Arelith whether or not our players purchase the module. The only reason I'd like to see it do well is so that NWN development of this kind does not end with Tyrants. Its been astonishing to see how much can be made for the game when there's a commercial incentive for it to happen.

Looking forward to seeing this content implemented on Arelith!
RP only starts at 30 if you're a coward.
Re: Tyrants of the Moonsea
So this has now been released!
I'll be doing an announcement and a longer article about the release on our news feed a little later.

Re: Tyrants of the Moonsea
So does Arelith make a cameo or were old area's recycled for Tyrants?
Re: Tyrants of the Moonsea
Will be buying this in a another few days... may be gone for a bit as i play it. Given the super low server population recently i suspect that is exactly what many are doing lol.
Re: Tyrants of the Moonsea
Will prob pick this up. What's the level range from start to finish though?
Re: Tyrants of the Moonsea
I used a number of reworked I interiors from Arelith to flesh out a number of the cities in the second half of the game. There really wasnt much alternative as just making one city was a tall order, let alone 4.NauVaseline wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 3:31 amSo does Arelith make a cameo or were old area's recycled for Tyrants?
None are major locations though, aside from where I used the Tungsten Turret interior.
Of course I'll be granting unseen imaginary points for those that spot them!
Re: Tyrants of the Moonsea
I think it's something like 15-21, but I'm not certain.
It's also extremely story-based, with encounters and story points coming thick and fast.
Personally I would have tripled the play time by ratcheting up the number of dungeons extensively for some honest-to-goodness mindless dungeon-crawling and
Increased the level range comparatively.
Though I think this is more a module for that the prefer a good yarn and quality dialog to, well, a massive grind-fest.
Re: Tyrants of the Moonsea
Bought this. I can't wait to dive in.
