First off, the item description changes are glorious and thank you so much for them!
The unhappy change comes from how item stacking has shifted at the same time. No longer does the inventory seem to distinguish between identical base items that have different names, and will now cram them together automatically. Even when those items are enchanted individually (but identically).
Previously someone could take a stack of items (as a random example, Food Ration items), name 'em all different things, and keep them in separate piles.
Post change, a chef that goes and renames some Food Rations to 'Vegetarian Snack' and 'Meatlovers Pizza' and then shifts them into their inventory will see one transform into the other and join that stack!
Even lazy chefs (coughmecough) that couldn't be bothered to use crafting points and enchanted weight-reduction onto Food Rations are in trouble. Auto-stacking still strikes!
The ability to stack stuff is a godsend. The loss of control over when not to stack is heartbreaking and can hamper roleplay. Is it possible to have both perhaps?

if you do a custom piece then put all others non custom ones in inventory after they all become custom til the stack is full
want more than one type make sure you max the stack

For some weird reason, "Bardic Mandolins" now stack...
Re: Item Description Changes: Unwanted Stacking
Odd workarounds that involve awkward item stacking or not, this is still an existing issue.
Re: Item Description Changes: Unwanted Stacking
It is, but it is not related to item description changes.
