EE and Crashes

Post by ASuicideMissionForSure » Wed Jan 09, 2019 4:08 pm

A thing I noticed since I got back into the game is that crashes went from a mildly uncommon occurance to a frequent one, where it happens up to 3 times per day depending on how long I play. Friends I play with also share this. Is there anything to be done about it, or are we doomed by enhancement?

the thing your forgetting is EE is less than a year old, and if you go back to this time circa 2004 the game crashed just as much if not more

1.69 had 15 years of fixing to not crash

I don't care about advocates of EE or critics of it, people's feelings about it are very set in stone nowadays. I'm asking if there's way to make it not as bad or not.

Basically I'd suggest exiting the game every few hours and restarting it. Theres not way to fix it or lower the amount of crashes. Just remember that when you log back on to emote feeling E N H A N C E D.

god bless beamdog and their enhanced crashes

You say "crashes" *Beamdog scoffs and screams in your face* 'ENCHANCED"

These crashes will probably be around for a while if the track record of the BG EE games is anything to go after, as I recall they were pretty broken for a while and continued to get patched to even today to be stable.

It’s possibly related to a memory leak that was seemingly introduced into the game at some point. These things are to be expected when someone goes tinkering with code that is 15 years old.

As was said before, probably the best workaround at the moment is to close and open the game. This will clear out the memory leak. Hopefully Beamdog’s finds the source of the leak and fixes it in an upcoming patch.

They said in their latest Beamblog that the renderer will take some time, I'd assume the same can be said for the 64-bit client. Don't expect to see these things for a few months.

Your comment doesn't make any sense. The scope of both of the things I mentioned are WAY bigger than updates to mobile.
