Override Darkness VFX
I've got what seems to be a very common bug for anyone who plays on a laptop involving the Darkness spell unrelated to ultravision and invisible PCs.
Whenever anyone casts Darkness, rather than the AoE target the Darkness spell literally turns the entire area pitch black. I can still see all the PC's, even the ones that presumably are supposed to be in the Darkness AoE. I can't tell where the AoE is (unless I get the concealment tab appear in the top right) and it becomes very hard to move around mid combat, because I can't tell where walls or placeables are. If someone casts darkness at the entry transition on the Cordor frontier, I can be stood on the other side of the Toll Gate and my entire area still turns black, which is also unintentional metagaming since I shouldn't be able to know that from the other side of a huge map.
Is there any way possible I can ovveride this vfx, any sort of client side ovveride to replace the darkness default vfx with anything else, say a Cloudkill vfx? So it doesn't interfere with anyone else but so that the dark sphere VFX doesn't appear and break my client? I can opt just not to use the spell myself, but it near enough bars me from partying with warlocks, trueflames or visiting areas where spawns cast this unless I'm way above level and can risk being hit repeatedly while trying to navigate out of an invisible wall.
Thanks

Re: Override Darkness VFX
I'm not certain if there is anyway to change the appearance of the effect, none that I have heard of anyways.
Maybe some things to try are just different graphic settings? Increase the lighting on your computer? Or decrease it?
Sort of grasping at straws I guess, when I have more time i'll try to look this up more in depth

I loved and I loved and I lost you... And it hurt like hell.
Re: Override Darkness VFX
It's entirely possible for Arelith to override it, or you personally as well.
Re: Override Darkness VFX
Ive really struggled with this one. Still no fix personally.
Re: Override Darkness VFX
Here's an override that replaces the darkness visual effect, with the 'anti-light' one. Anti-light, for reference, is what makes Storm of Vengeance dark.

Re: Override Darkness VFX
So you always get a little Storm of Vengeance PTSD panic attack whenever somebody casts darkness on you

No, because there's no acid rain and the casting animation is completely different.Xanos950 wrote:So you always get a little Storm of Vengeance PTSD panic attack whenever somebody casts darkness on you
Re: Override Darkness VFX
Can this be stickied saved or anything so we have a future reverence of this. Maybe set it on the Arelith download or something?

Re: Override Darkness VFX
.. Much thanks for this. I never realized it was so simple.
That which doesn't kill you, simply makes you... stranger.

Re: Override Darkness VFX
Do you want to use this because of the cosmetic difference between the black and "darkish" visual effects, or because you are still experiencing darkness bugs that this override solves?

Re: Override Darkness VFX
Thank you, Dragonovith!
I get the bug rarely now and then. Personally, I find it annoying to not be able to see placeables and corpses (especially when trying to loot them) despite having ultravision cast on me.DM Symphony wrote: ↑Sat Sep 15, 2018 5:00 amDo you want to use this because of the cosmetic difference between the black and "darkish" visual effects, or because you are still experiencing darkness bugs that this override solves?
