Enhanced Edition: The Good
In light of this post I thought I would make two threads about the good and the bad of Enhanced Edition. It can be intimidating to untangle all of that (and similar posts) for someone who isn't used to Arelith's current environment, and may help people decide if it's worth the investment.
This thread should only be about the good and beneficial aspects of Enhanced Edition. If there's something negative about it, please see the sister thread. Ideally, I'd like this to be pinned like my other similarly themed thread.

Re: Enhanced Edition: The Good
It's nice to have the server lists back.
It's really widened the community again, bringing in hundreds of new and old players.
I like being able to play it on Steam, and I like the ease of use of Steam Workshop.

This too shall pass.
(I now have a DM Discord (I hope) It's DM GrumpyCat#7185 but please keep in mind I'm very busy IRL so I can't promise how quick I'll get back to you.)

Re: Enhanced Edition: The Good
Anyone who wants to play on Arelith needs NWN EE so whether it's worth the investment is a non-issue. It is what it is.
The question is, is Arelith worth a $20 investment if you are unfamiliar with the server and the game? If you want to play an immersive D&D-based roleplaying game that's available to you 24-7 and has hundreds of quality players, then yes, it is more than worth it. Absolutely, 100%, would play again.
If someone is just seeing if this is a single player RPG worth $20 and somehow ended up here, go play Baldur's Gate instead maybe.

Re: Enhanced Edition: The Good
I think the best good, put very simply, is that NWN will last at least another sixteen years.

So we're very much on track.
Re: Enhanced Edition: The Good
Per-part coloring on Arelith is neat. Steam workshop is neat I guess.

Playing in 1080 on a 50 inch screen and not giving myself eye strain trying to read the text.
Knowing that the next edition of windows won't phase my favorite D&D RP medium out of existence.
Far less crashes than the original release of NWN prior to patches. I'm running an i5-6400 @2.7 Ghz with an Nvidia GTX 1060, and I don't even experience the dreaded Intel issues.
Continued development and coding support.

Re: Enhanced Edition: The Good
I think the post processing and updated lighting makes NwN look way better than what I did. Less jaggies, definitely more pleasing to the eyes.
Re: Enhanced Edition: The Good
This is the biggest thing as it was something I've been worried about.
I do like the potential that it brings though, especially knowing that Beamdog is actively building the auto-hak downloader. That will change things in a huge way, even if it is just in game text updates (for feats, skills, classes, etc.) for Arelith (to start with anyway). There is so much potential for customization with easy access to this other content.
Other than that:

Re: Enhanced Edition: The Good
Where are you people finding the ability to color your armor per part? o.o
Current character: Abigail Duskwood
Re: Enhanced Edition: The Good
It's amazing. Open the rest menu and then choose character, then appearance. Then select a body part and at the top you should see Color as an option.

Re: Enhanced Edition: The Good
The only issue is you seem to lose the part's color after you have an effect like stoneskin or barkskin up, until you take out and re-equip the armor or log out and return.
Re: Enhanced Edition: The Good
Turn a hood on and off to fix that

also, the intel bug was only for people using integrated graphics. if you have a discrete card, you won't see it.

Is this like the issue with shoulders/belt disappearing, or the root of the problem is NWNX? Yet another reason why I’d love to see all the -skin spell visual effects toggle-able.Tourmaline wrote: ↑Mon Jul 16, 2018 7:42 pmThe only issue is you seem to lose the part's color after you have an effect like stoneskin or barkskin up, until you take out and re-equip the armor or log out and return.

I catch myself staring at the water for a while, now. And shiny water can be allowed.

Having the skin spells toggle-able visually would be a balance issue.Elaetheus wrote: ↑Sat Aug 11, 2018 4:24 amIs this like the issue with shoulders/belt disappearing, or the root of the problem is NWNX? Re: Enhanced Edition: The Good
You can fix the part colouring/"barkskin" bug by typing -hood on and off. I don't know if this works for races without hood models though. Presumably you can also toggle your helmet appearance, but I've never tried that.
