Recommended Spellsword Crafting
I realize this is a highly subjective question, but what do seasoned spellswords recommend for crafting picks.
Are spellcomponents a long term problem? They seem to be readily saleable...if a bit pricey...
Yet weapons are obviously important? This might imply forging?
But also seemingly spellswords are synergized around light armors. So, tailoring?
For a long term spellsword, is there a craft you WISHED you picked instead?
Thanks!

Re: Recommended Spellsword Crafting
If you have a race weapon via forging pick that.
If you're an elf pick forging so you can make elven spellsword chain and make like infinity gold by making them for people when they supply the mats.
Tailoring is over-rated and the demand for those items is very low.
Carpentry makes a good staff but the demand is low and it's far easier to find a carpenter.
Alchemy makes good runes and usefull stuff, if you want to be a wage-mage go that, I made millions selling raw catalysts and spell components on Thazar.
Just my suggestions. Pick whatever craft you think you'll be making the most. Forging is just more useful in that regard.

Re: Recommended Spellsword Crafting
I think spell components are only readily available because almost everybody makes their own. It's not a bad idea to do the same in case the supply doesn't always meet your demand. Though I am sure many merchants would be happy if more wizards just bought them instead of making them.
Forging is not a bad idea, but consider you will probably only need to make your final weapon once (unless you get unlucky with a disarm or something) and it may or may not be easier to find a smith willing to do the job one time, than relying on alchemists to make all the components you will need for as long as you play the character.

This is wrong. The Elven Chain is a set of chainmail with +4 AC, extra DI, runic, and a casting of camouflage.Kirito wrote:it's just elven chain. and has no ASF reduction

For crafting, I'd take whatever you need to make consumables. Money is not going to be an issue once you have your final gear, because of your greatly reduced reliance on magic items, so you won't need to spam craft as long as you do a little farming every now and then. I went for Tailoring and Alchemy, but I could've gone without crafting at all. I probably didn't even go through even one pouch of spell components in the lifetime of the character, because imbuing doesn't require them. If I did it again, I'd seriously consider Herbalism, just do I could churn out heal potions.

I would disagree about it being easy to find a carpenter. It depends on where you are on the server. My character owns a noble merchant house with between 16-20 people in it at the moment and carpenters can be hard to find. Myon May have lots of them but there are fewer in the human area.

Masterly elven chain, that's it.
BIS for most barbarians and a load of other builds. But literally nobody makes them.
Seriously want to become rich? Just say you can make it, and charge people 60,000 gold just to take their mats, make the new production, and hand them a 0% completed item for their Smith to finish.
Everyone will pay.

Re: Recommended Spellsword Crafting
That evil elf and evil drow can use moonblades is extremely awkward as original (to which it serves as minor training art blades ) are sentient beings which kill unsuited bearers (like evil ones!).
And fact evil elf can craft such blade is a totally bullshit which will be hopefully fixed.
And it is not in linie with, surprisingly, drow racial crossbow have listed requirement of evil aligment to craft or use.

Re: Recommended Spellsword Crafting
Can't it be a corrupted moonblade?
I'd treat them as that rather than the very same process.

Just a reminder...this is a LESSER MOONBLADE....so, likely not sentient at all, nor even close to as powerful.

There is like one corrupted blade in FR and by elven Noble.
If you don't feel that hundreds corrupted blades on arelithian aren't immersion breaking, ok.
And yes it is LESSER but look at properties they clearly imply connection to seldarine by divine damage versus undead. And look at drow racials. They have only common bonuses and yet demand evil aligment to be used / crafted (according to wiki ).

Re: Recommended Spellsword Crafting
Moonblades and who can use them are not the point of this thread. I'd make a feedback thread if you feel that strongly about it.
I'm going to echo other advise and say alchemy/tailoring seems like a good combo for the self-sufficient Spellsword. You could do 28 alchemy (enough for abeyant templates), ~32 tailoring, and 1 point into art for glass. With crafting gift, you should have enough tailoring to make anything.

just change the name of the lesser moonblade if this is such an issue
"Elven Leafblade"
"Elven Leafblade"
Re: Recommended Spellsword Crafting
Poor wording on my part. I was saying that the item is just called elven chain (not spellsword chain) and (elven chain) doesn't have any ASF reduction. (it's just the AC/DI/Runic/camo etcHunter548 wrote:This is wrong.
