UMD guide for dummies

Can anyone out there confirm exactly how UMD works. As far is I understand If you have 10 UMD skill then you add your d20 onto that to check usage. If the DC is 20 then 50% of the time you can use the item? But if you fail the check how long before the try again?

Also if you equip CHA items to help pass the check once these are removed does this matter e.g. once your Chainmail of the Holy Knight is equipped it stays there until you choose to remove it?

Each 5 points of umd increase level of price on item you may use.

The item is unequipped on log in, reset, and under several other circumstances.

UMD doesn't use any dice at all on Arelith. If you have a certain UMD score, you can simply use the item, and if you don't, you can't.

There are items that have uniquely set UMD restrictions as well. Often these are crafting items, and can be found at their respective wiki locations, with their UMD requirement listed!
