Re: Dwarven Defender Megatopic!
Raise it to +6 then and more soak. i mean. i know i could solo a lot of things if i soaked up 28 to 31 dmg depending on my DD level, there is a few epic areas were the monsters have really good ab anyway. i mean... dd is suppose to be a dwarven wall, not a circular swingdoor with tons of ac you can't hit.Umskiptar wrote:Way to make an ineffective change. it could be kinda cool if you saved your stance to the big boss fight and toke all the dmg from the boss like a boss.

Tons of AC doesn't mean you're not getting hit. Armor AC, Natural Armor AC, and Deflect AC all indicate being hit but shrugging off the blow.
DDs having solid AC is no less thematic than the DR aspect of the class.

Re: Dwarven Defender Megatopic!
Honestly I would not like to see this, the max I would like to see for DD is having Defensive stance granting some critical hit Resistance. (Which I dont know if it is possible without Haks), as we all know they are not Pale Masters and should not be completely immune to Critical hits. (They still have vulnerable organs/body parts). Something like 20-30% Critical hit damage mitigation maybe? I dunno.
Re: Dwarven Defender Megatopic!
So playing a Dwarven defender, it's not horrible, but had I known then what I know now, I likely would not have went that route. the amount of DR you can get is great but the capstone ability that sounded cool on paper is just not as good as I would like in reality.
First, due to the mechanics/pathfinding, getting it to turn on and stay on is frustrating. Making it a free action or implementing the idea of slowing to heavily encumbered speed instead of rooting would mitigate this and make it much more usable. I personally like the fact that it roots you as it really fits the imagine in my head of a dwarven defender, but it's just hurt by the game mechanics.
The second is, it's kind of lackluster. As someone already said, the STR and CON as someone said in another thread being soft bonuses are negligible. By the time to start into DD you are likely to the point in gear where you are already at the cap with the bulls strength and endurance pot so they don't add much. The AC is nice situationally but often times it's better to just use expertise. I think a more scaling bonus with level would be nice or have the STR/CON let you go over cap while the ability is active. Crit immunity would be awesome.
I would LOVE to see DDs get an ability agro's the mobs like the PDK gets. It would fit the theme and the spirit of the build. I could just see a grumpy dwarf cussing and taunting the enemies to get them to attack him to defend his buddies.

Re: Dwarven Defender Megatopic!
Deffo a % immunity to physical, like the barbarian gets. They already have DR which is decent, so...add in some physical immunity %, to complement that DR, and you have a fixed class.
Fun thing is...if you stack enough physical immunity, you can actually sorta not care about the crits that much, add the DR to the mix, and crits may hit only 20% harder or something like that, so... that would be a crative way to go around crit immunity (which SUUUUUUUUCKS)
In conclusion... No fancy features, nothing, just simple good old... % reduction that allows them to actually soak up end-game dmg, and be the bearded sponges they were always meant to be.

Re: Dwarven Defender Megatopic!
No, as giving one of the highest DR potential classes on Arelith even more Immunity will never fly.
Re: Dwarven Defender Megatopic!
Clearly you'v never tried tanking any end game content/Players on DR alone. DR doesn't really cut it, when a dragon hits you for 60+ through your DR, and never misses since your AC is pitiful...DR tanking is neat for trash mobs, boss tanking is a huuuuge no no when DR is concerned. And for that reason...immunity.Ramza wrote:No, as giving one of the highest DR potential classes on Arelith even more Immunity will never fly.
(P.S. Barbs get physical immunity, and their DR potential is about 80% of a DD)
Re: Dwarven Defender Megatopic!
When we get around DDs, odds of any change being related to DR or damage absorption is incredibly unlikely.
Re: Dwarven Defender Megatopic!
One of the main features of the class gives you +4 AC [The stance].Umskiptar wrote:Way to make an ineffective change. Grinding by soaking damage is nigh impossible. Healing kits are also more expensive now.Seekeepeek wrote: DD was never an ac tank so make more sense they get more dmg soak.
The class also retain dodge AC when flanked and so on.
The class also require dodge to even pick, which increases AC.
I'd say the class have some of it's focus on AC.
Beside, fullplate give AC not DR. AC is abtract.
Re: Dwarven Defender Megatopic!
Give them permanent HP increase also?
20 HPS per level base?
20 HPS per level base?
