I feel like this has the makings of the greatest troll ever.

Re: The most active players
Seems like someone is using the Arelith API to sum all the time each player played in a month. The ones with most hours are the most active players.
cih's player list aleady does this to an extent, it just doesn't break player time per month, it just adds it all together.

I mean... That's a bit of a given. The thing left in question is who, precisely, will be embarassed.Ork wrote:I think this'll just be real embarrassing.
Re: The most active players
This seems rather mean-spirited? Hm.
Current character: Abigail Duskwood

Re: The most active players
Wouldn't that just demonstrate the most active accounts, but not necessarily players?

Re: The most active players
It's a bit fun that when Virtual Reality finally hits on the mainstream market and the world starts debating whether or not it actually means something to spend so much time in a world that isn't real, nwn players will just be sitting there with a blank stare.
That which doesn't kill you, simply makes you... stranger.
Re: The most active players
Time you enjoy wasting is never wasted.
Re: The most active players
Lets just pray there's not a stat for player who has taken most characters through the speedy quest...
Re: The most active players
Okay, I give up guys.
When I returned to the server(last month) I wanted to play with active players (I have limited time to play and didn't want to waste on doing nothing or grinding xp alone). So I thought, that it would be great to know who were the most active players and ask them about their factions/characters. You know, everyone wants to run with the cool kids.
So I developed a piece of code that checked the online list regularly and logged who was online at the time (the player account only). After about a day my script failed and I lost all the data because of a player account with probably non UTF encoded characters in it... I suffered a mini heart attack but who cares about that when you wanna know who are the most active ones right? I slightly changed the backend and my little observer friend was back in business.
After about a week I had enough data to at least guess who were the relatively active players. But I didn't think about the time zones. All the top players on my list were offline at the time I was playing... pfff. (yes, I know, I should have run the observer during my usual playing time)
Shadow Reality guessed well.
The idea was to post the top 20 most active players (without releasing the hours I think they spent on the server this month). I wish I had the time to be amongst them btw
Stath, RamblerTeo thank you for your comment guys, it really made my day (whether it was sarcastic or not).
There, I said it, no more smoke and mirrors, just the facts. Didn't want to troll anyone.

Obviously I didn't know that cih's player list existed otherwise I probably wouldn't have spent time on working something similar.Shadowy Reality wrote:Seems like someone is using the Arelith API to sum all the time each player played in a month. Re: The most active players
Being online a lot doesn't necessarily make a character interesting.

Can confirm, I am online constantly and have the blandest characters you'll ever meet.Aodh Lazuli wrote:Being online a lot doesn't necessarily make a character interesting.

The players I like playing with the most tend to be in the middle or low range of activity.
Re: The most active players
Will do, don't worry. Looking at the current data there is a real fight between the top 3 players.Ork wrote:I'm still itching to see who they are! Continue, Artenides.
I never said that I wanted to play with the most interesting characters. I just wanted to play with players who are usually around.Aodh Lazuli wrote:Being online a lot doesn't necessarily make a character interesting.

Re: The most active players
Coincidentically, the players are in another TZ. Why not just play naturally and find the people that play a lot around your time zone?
