Sounds interesting. What is the goal behind these polls?

The one thing I like more than polls? Poll-based puns. This is great.

I'm not convinced. I think the feature still needs some poll-ish.

love them, they do help to give at least a clear (if not limited) consensus on an issue with numerical data (if used right lol)

[EDIT]

with the current set of conditions for their use, I actually see no point in them now, could probably just continue to do without.

Needs to not have revotes.

Agreed with Cerk, you can change your vote really easy and I think there ought to be an option to disable that for the poll creator (unsure if there already is?)

There is yes, you can choose to allow it or not for each poll. Just changed it to no revote to test. Works fine.

My typical answer would be "None of the above" but that choice is not provided.
That poll of invalid!

Hm

Any way to prevent the same people casting votes through multiple forum accounts just in case this becomes a new way of deciding things with the server?

I hope we can instead agree that polls aren't votes and note that this will have the same downsides as any internet poll would.

Then there would be no point in trying to double-vote like that.

I'll be watching for how popular making polls are among patrons, thus far we haven't seen any!

Out of curiosity, how come you guys decided to bar staff members from using polls? I think it'd be interesting for, say, one of the devs to gauge the popularity of a particular feature or something, but the checks you have in place seem to bar that almost specifically.

Honestly, I dunno what they'd be used for beyond small-talk type stuff. All the rules about them seem sensible, but when all feedback on the server isn't allowed, and jokes aren't allowed, what's really left beyond things like "What should I have on my pizza?" or "Who's gonna win the Super Bowl?"

Feedback is fine, so long as it done with the understanding that we won't make policy depending on the popular vote. It's really a question of language as much as anything. A question like 'What new race would you like to see added to Arelith?' is fine, but 'What new race should the developers work on next' is not. This may seem like both questions are the same, but the first makes it clear it is just a question of opinions, while the second is explicitly making a request of the team.

As for comedy polls, I don't know, maybe I was too severe in restricting that, but humour can often be offensive to some people, and I didn't want to make too much work for the forum moderators.

Fair enough then, I misunderstood how you'd meant that.

Not a pun. This poll has two problems.

First, there are four serious choices and three joke choices. And the last two choices do not pertain to the official question. So this poll will not yield the desired output that is desired.

And second, there is no None of the above choice. In real life, any polling ballot ALWAYS has blank space to manually type the choice desired, if it was not provided.

I realize that this is just a test. But i hope that any future serious choices that rely on polls do not leave room for ambiguity.
That's just my personal opinion. Take it or leave it.
