The Burial of King Belrun Battlehammer

Post by Dragonovith » Sat Aug 18, 2018 12:41 am

Finishing what began a few months ago, Brogendenstein and its allies gathered together to bury Belrun Battlehammer, the first king and founder of Brogendenstein. This is not a kudos thread, but even so I'd like to give kudos to the Dwarves of Brogendenstein, they're awesome people just like the roleplay they generate. I'm not sure if he's still around, it's a many years old character, but kudos nonetheless to Belrun's player too for unknowingly gathering us all together for this fun plot, and kudos to the DMs that made it real. Since this is a screenshots forum, here they are:

---
From the tragedy of Umbrick few did rise, escaping the cruelty of Duergar wrath.
Whilst others mourned and dried their eyes, the Sonnlinor's boy trailed an icy path.

Far down the mountain where the cold did sting, the Sonnlinor's son sensed a new land and new walls.
The Dwarf we would come to call our King, carved from the rock our Golden Halls.

With wit and wisdom he formed a bond, the Earthkin Alliance his greatest pride.
These ties he formed last well beyond, the century which followed the day he died.

Yet still he felt the bitter loss, Umbrick's crown remained in Halls below.
But his mission a line nae King could cross, so a new one crowned and alone he did go.

Marched himself, and his axe, into the throe.
Alone our former King did go.

The mystery that surrounded the final fate, of the Sonnlinor's boy and how deep he marched.
Kin broke his forbidding a century too late, and when found, was found in despondent state.

The Dominion armies swept Umbrick's floor, and avenged their King, a bittersweet test.
The Sonnlinor's boy who could march nae more, was marched by Kin to his final rest.

There is so much history that has been lost to the passage of time. New generations of stout folk gaze upon the memorials of centuries past, and their players can look at the screen and think 'that was actually a PC from over a decade ago. Cool'.

There are so many questions that could be answered.

"Are all Ironhelm dwarves who come of age issued with a pot of beard-whitener?"
"When is Bal Rannis' relief supposed to arrive?"
"Is it clan Iron Anvil, or the Iron Anvil clan?"

Please feel free to join.
