Guards outside Skaljard

Skaljard is a small pocket of civilization in a very hostile island, perhaps one or two guards could be added to this entrance of the town, like it is the case with Andunor's main gate, to avoid having adventurers bringing a horde of monsters inside the town?

EDIT: Just a small late addendum. Adventurers, often low level characters fleeing from danger, retreat back to town with lots of hostile NPCs in tow, and given the lack of a guard presence outside the entrance to Skaljard shown in my first post, the area gets littered with corpses:
