Not sure if this is possible, maybe it is with the potential inclusion of mods coming soon.
I feel like bard song should impact crafting skills, just like your main skills. It would make investing in bard song past level 16 more attractive, and make it more desirable to have a high level bard buddy if you are a crafter.
Keep in mind, bard song already does help with crafting traps.
Any thoughts?

Most of the better bard builds take 20+ levels of bard for lasting inspiration.

That's fine, I think my suggestion would still encourage some people to drive up their bard song as much as possible.
