Occult update : fixing the old

Hey guys,

Cool update ! Always nice to see new things !

However I felt obligated to remember that Vampires are still bugged : they don't KD, they don't life drain, making them inferior in every ways to mummies while being kinda hard to get.

Maybe it's not too late to bundle it in the occult update?

Vampires are not weaker than the mummies. The vampires do much more damage, the low AB of the mummies means their KDs will probably miss more often than not as it is. The mummies are a lot of beefier than the vampires, but most importantly the vampires have a higher base speed than PCs. So people can't run away from them, they have to get rid of them.

Well that's not what my extensive testing of both streams have shown. Vampire damage is marginally superior but is greatly offset by their inability to tank without dieing or being babysitted. Mummies (and NWN ai in general) don't try to KD if the chances are too low and when they try (and they do) they succeed reasonably often (depending on the area of course). As for pursuing, I am speaking about pve so that doesn't matter given mummies can pursue just fine in that context.

If vampires would at least get their KD, they could mitigate incoming damage and indirectly improve their survivability, which would then put them as a viable more "aggressive" option.

Any of this is offtopic however given that their character sheet (in arelith's wiki) states level drain (2) and improved KD, and both are bugged/non functional.

*Watches a direwolf repeatedly trying and failing to KD enemies with 20+ AC they could've just hit normally*

Vampires are a better choice in PvP, but many times in PvE mummies are better simply because it's less hassle to keep them alive through waves of enemies.

Really, the movement speed is a big factor. A bunch of hasted vampires is a scary sight.
