Ogres & Their Hitboxes

Post by Red Ropes » Mon Jul 30, 2018 12:02 pm

Here is my feedback:

PLEASE FOR THE SWEET LOVE OF ALL.

Make it so they have hitboxes like imps so people can pass by them and so they can actually -guard people.

You can't adventure with an ogre. In the UD where they are intended to be 90% of the time they get caught on everything and their party members send them flying 50 miles ahead / back.

that is all

Yeah, maybe treat it as stepping over people?
As ogre player you are subject to Extreme rubber banding because of your size.
Sometimes i'm halfway across an area but then get pulled back and have apparently been awkwardly humping someone that blocked me.
You also know if someone is sneaking about/invisible because pathing goes berzerk.
The Hub is the worst example of this.

Also don't know if its related to the hitbox (assume so) but i frequently end up in a ceiling on transition and need to use -makesafe.

Added this now. Expect less Ogre collision now. This works exactly the same way as it does for Imps and I've seen reports before of this not working all the time for Imps. More so it stops working after a while. If it does try and relog should fix it again. Next reset.

@ActionReplay

Would it be possible to get this or a lesser version for extra large shifted forms? For example the Tiger, Manticore, Gargoyle(which has it really bad), Dragon, Construct, most high level totems, monolithics etc. Often times you just get punted around an area or stuck on terrain making the forms harder to use in any sort of tight space.

Gargoyle I know has a big issue with -guard where you can stand right next to someone and they won't be -guarded.

Yeah this should be possible. We'll look into it.

Forgot about Drider! I guess basilisk might have this issue as well, though it is more medium sized. Add on the Dire bear/dire wolf and maybe dire boar as well? Really anything 'large' sized.

Thanks ActionReplay/Artenides, you're the best.

Yeah, I've had issues with dire bears and earth elementals getting hung up on things.

Could it be considered to remove the hitbox when you're riding a horse?

It usually stays with you long after you've dismounted and is prone to similar problems as playing an ogre.

I'm just amazed you found a horse that didn't break under the load.
May you live in interesting times.

Thank you so much for this!

It does make me wonder, though. Is the collision hitbox just different, or has the sizes been adjusted? There is a difference between being, say, medium and large, for instance.

Can we get this fixed for riders too please, this is a thing annoying anyone who has riding character since mounts were put in.

Can we get an option to turn off our own hitbox so we don't bump other people?

The number of times I've walked through a transition and been bumped back through is probably in the hundreds by now and it's really annoying. Because it would also allow creatures to move through you it would actually be a combat negative but a QoL mega-positive.

Been playing around with this for a bit now, it isn't helping with shifter forms.

Gargoyle, Harpy, manticore are still full sized (and at times teleporting away if surrounded), and Tiger is still overly large as well. Haven't tested the other forms yet, although Minotaur has not really had many issues.

Does look like it is working for totem forms - although Miaou's question I also wonder.
