well honestly im more afraid of a weird or phantasmal killer than i am of a hold person
Besides, you can just -pray to get rid of an enchantment debuff.

Re: Spell Focus confusion
Wierd is a high level spell, phantasmal killer is indeed quite a good spell.
Enchantment Hold person, and dominate person is however amazingly powerful.
It does not matter if you're killed by phantasmal or "hold person" both spell your death.
Enchantment also allows you to capture and drag along powerful npcs as additional henchmen, so enchantment is in no way weak.
I would rate the current spell schools as following.
(top best, bottom worst).
1: Conjuration (Powerful Summons, and several fog-cloud like abilities like Evard's black tentacles)
2: Enchantment (Will save based paralyse, and dominate.. plus charm works on npcs including neutral (the old nwn bug fixed)).
This is also the Save which the most classes have a weakness to, the exception being other magic users, but even they natively will have issued with a fully built enchanter mage with focus on raising DC.
3: Illusion (decent all around spells, two decent instant death spells).
4: Transmutation (has flesh to stone, and some summons that can be particularly useful).
5: Abjuration (Dispell bonuses make this a -very- good secondary to enchantment, illusion or transmutation to purge the only real counter to these spells).
6: Evocation (Does good damage, and large varity of spells but generally if your paralysed/dazed or flesh to stone, you're equally dead).
7: Necromancy (has some decent fortitude based death attacks, but generally warriors whom is the biggest threat have high fortitude, it does have some decent summons, thou short of conjuration ones.. however in general you can summon conjuration without focus for equal effect of focused necromancy).
8: Divination (this one falls short, it has a single spell that gets bonus from the spell focus, it has a a epic Scry ability for roleplay, which makes it a very interesting choice, but for roleplay, not power.

With the spell changes, Power Word: Kill and Power Word: Stun have DCs that Divination focus alter.
Alia: The uncanny knack of Angela Amana to make the otherwise perpetually well-mannered girl lose her temper and be HORRIBLY ASHAMED afterwards.

Re: Spell Focus confusion
Hm, am reading the right, the DC increases the max required hp required before it triggers? if so then divination would definitely be far more powerful than i previously stated. But if it's just the DC to have the trigger, then the spell by default isn't particularly powerful.. but yeah a bit more powerful than i estimated.triaddraykin wrote: ↑Fri May 04, 2018 8:02 pmWith the spell changes, Power Word: Kill and Power Word: Stun have DCs that Divination focus alter.

Re: Spell Focus confusion
It's that the DC is changed based on your current HP
Say you have a DC of 30, and you're stunning a barbarian with 500 points. He's got to beat a DC of 30. If you get him down to 151 HP, he has to beat a DC of 33. At 150, he's auto-stunned for 1d4 rounds.
Kill works the same, only it's 101HP.
