Faction Suggestion Feedback

Post by SteelsSweets » Mon Nov 13, 2017 9:16 pm

I can see both sides of this but I wanted to add a thought that may not have been considered.

The reply makes sense, yes but sometimes the factions don't make sense.

I've been on the receiving end of a faction bug and it makes the game unplayable some times.

Even if it was an accident that caused it you have to stay out of the way of almost every NPC until reset or DM rescue.

I see this as an RP server and if there is no one around with the power to fix something like this, how do you RP your way out of it?

I think its difficult to justify a command to remove hostility from NPCs, as often times it is earned. What I think would be a better solution would be to fix some of the particularly odd NPC relationships. For example.. I once accidentally hit the sphinx near sibayad with an AOE. Only 1 person in Sibayad went hostile, so I was able to leave easily. However, Laurick's guards became hostile until the next reset (which inevitably I forgot about upon later returning to the nest via ship from Cordor, which led to instant death :D).

Some of the neutral animals that are connected to hin soldiers are another good example. If the factions were tweaked a bit, a command would be unnecessary, I'd think.

The better solution as mentioned is to review how factions are interacting with one another rather than introduce some command to reset factions.

Adding a command is highly exploitable - players then would have the option to murder all NPCs in a settlement and then wash their hands clean by typing in a command. Not something that should ever be done nor should a command be made available to let it happen.

Certain factions are not interacting with one another appropriately - two good factions keep trying to kill each other. Light Keep has gone homicidal it seems. Reviewing the scripts and why they are triggering like such is something that should be done. And likely is being reviewed or on the list to be reviewed.

We also sometimes want NPCS to be hostile, for a quest and the like, and don't want players suddenly setting them unhostile.

Once the bug is fixed this won't be an issue anymore anyway, the better thing is to just wait, and regard the bug as a bug rather than actual RP going on.

No matter how it's fixed, as long as it is on the "list" to be be looked at then alls well.
