Underdark Rog4/PDK10/BG16

Post by Hendrak666 » Fri Mar 09, 2018 12:38 pm

Hey,

I am a new player and want to try out the UD.

Inspired by another topic i lean toward Rog4/PDK10/BG16 picking Protector build to buff and guard my epic summon.

What Race should i pick? Choices seem to be Gnoll,Orog or Drow. Personal leaning toward Gnoll or Drow. What is mechanical best, what promises the most RP/Faction interaction?

What Stats should i have at start? Lowest DEX, INT 14 for Exp, what CHA score for possible D.Power and Shield?

I ll start with Rog 4 and go for PDK then. Which is the following class level order?

Which feats should i pick and which skills should i focus on?

EDIT: I ve seen a lvl/newbie guide on the forum but arent able to find it again. Can someone link it for me?

Thank you for your responses,
Hendrak

Honestly all races promise the same quality of interaction but playing a drow in UD perhaps slightly bit more than the rest(?) Mechanically human is always the best.

Usually blackguards take 16 cha (including gift) and 17-18 str (with gift as well). dex and wis on 8, int and con on 14.

You can start with 3 rogue and start pdk straight after. It's better. Save your last rogue lvl for high epics.

The hunger for feats is real on this build. Take blind fight, expertise, skill focus: discipline, power attack, cleave, divine shield/might, weapon focus. Then, you might want to consider using epic feats for improved critical, improved expertise and knockdown but not all three and I'm not sure how much you really need them, probably not too much.

Orog.. that stats are better for it.. you go STR and Cha.. plus as an Orog.. since your new to the UD has a good learning curve and is very forgiving to play an Orog..

Human isn't always the most optiamal choice. Orog is better for that build imho, you get power atatck for free so you don't lose out on feats vs. a human. You also get a bonus +2 str, +1 ac, fire cold phys immunity. (Compared to a human that has taken +2 str and +2cha gifts)

Yeah, 4 str and 2 cha, orog's the best bet.

You also get the cool unique orog swords and armor if you go forging.

Thanks for your advices.

Orog Sword is a bastard sword says wiki. so i have to get exotic weapon as extra feat? Is it better than masterly damask Scimitar for a blackguard? I guess i ll get UMD and could also use other weapons and GMW scrolls?

Any skills i shouldnt miss?

Tumble disc umd are the big three.

I'd say the bastard sword is worth it as its plus four and keen already.

Make sure to take Skill Focus: Discipline at level 1 or 3 to qualify for PDK. I'd get at least 5 PDK before starting BG levels. Your pre-epic split should be rogue 3/PDK 7/BG 10. Take the last rogue level no earlier than 27 to get tumble to 30.

Thank you all!

All Stat points during lvl up into STR? Leaving CON at 14 and CHA at 16?

STR ending on even or odd score?

Personally I would do the 16 x3 14 spread for maximum efficiency.

BASE SCORES PRE ORC OR OROG ADJUSTMENT

16 STR 10 DEX 14 CON 14 INT 8 WIS 14 CHA.

Orog will put those to great values. You do need a great stat in epic.

okay,

so i put all Attribut points at lvl ups into STR (->27 for Orog) and pick one Great STR in epic levels for a total of 28 STR?

To which score do i need to put points into UMD, 20, 30 or full 33; is CHA bonus added to UMD to use items?

I'd probably not do more than 15-20 UMD? There's really not much gear that I can think of that you'd want but don't already have access to, so you'll mostly use it for wands.

The only useful things I can think of would be the Black Iron Coronet or Circlet of Heroic Might, both of which require 60, and would be so difficult to reach that it probably isn't worth it.

Anybody know of a reason to go above 15 on this build?
