Cleric/Monk
Like, a battlecleric, but with monk levels. Unarmored. Anyone got tips?
Clerics are just socially acceptable warlocks. The devil does not need any more advocates
Re: Cleric/Monk
Go healer pathed, dont go unarmed go quarterstaff for 9 attacks pr. round with divine power. and GWM on the quarterstaff. even with low str build you will be doing 1d6+5+str(5-8)+5+2+essenence by level 18, 9 times a round. for short bursts when needed, and thats if you build for a Caster cleric that can fight when needed.
take war domain and epic transmutation for +11 to str, dex and con with just from zoo spells and aura of vitality. leaving you room to focus on Caster items.
with cleric 26, monk 4 you will have much of a pure healer, but higher AC then a regular battle cleric. when Divine powered and divine favored you will must likely also do more damage in melee.
if you go 24, 6 you will lose a cleric bonus feat but get imp knockdown, move slightly faster but also more easy to dispel and your overhealing will be 10 lower.
side note, dont forgot to get as high disciplin as possible when taking monk levels. your Flat-footed AC is very low, so getting on your Snuggybear is even more deadly to you then other people.

Are you interested in using Kamas? One? Two? Is Unarmed fighting also fine? Makes a huge difference in the build.
EDIT: Or Quarterstaff. :]

Worth noting the wisdom ac is flat-footedTerenfel wrote:your Flat-footed AC is very low
Still, discipline and epic skill focus discipline are highly recommended.

My only about Qs is, you get more attacks but the damage is less then if you went unarmed.

Re: Cleric/Monk
If you have a lot of monk levels, yes. Otherwise it's the same (due to fist damage progression), barring the extra attacks that you've pointed out, and you should never take a spellcasting class as a non-majority part of your levels.*Sab1 wrote:My only about Qs is, you get more attacks but the damage is less then if you went unarmed.
*yes i know 3-4 level bard dip is technically a spellcaster, don't be pedantic

So a majority monk using a QS will never be a damage machine.

Re: Cleric/Monk
Well, yeah that's true. But the thread is about cleric/monks specifically. And quarterstaff > fist (in terms of damage alone) for cleric monk.

Could someone please add more specifics to the buiding path? Like, what feats (besides ESF disc) are a must and how to spread the ability points

Re: Cleric/Monk
Weapon finesse, duel wield feats. and then the spell focus you like, transmutation with war domain is very good. conjuration is also a good cleric school. Evocation is also good, divination if you want to scry and read people. but doing for more then two spell focus will leave you with too few combat feats.

Looks very good Thank you! I should start collecting the builds people post around here on forums and make a thread with builds one day :pAstral wrote:With charisma and war domain?telmarael wrote:Could someone please add more specifics to the buiding path? Re: Cleric/Monk
So I take it losing two cleric lvls for two monks lvls and free IKD isn't worth it?

Re: Cleric/Monk
No. As a caster you want as much CL as you can get. Personally I'd play that build as 27/3 not 26/4. Having low CL in this era of Arelith (eralith???) of 22 pre-abjuration dispel, dispel-on-hit spellsword and paladin madness, is just not that strong.Sab1 wrote:So I take it losing two cleric lvls for two monks lvls and free IKD isn't worth it?
It never really was "great" to have 23 or 24 CL, but it was liveable since all you really had to fear was abjuration-focused magi. Now there are a lot more things to worry about.

Re: Cleric/Monk
Not sure if 8 dex is a good idea on a cloth wearing build.
Re: Cleric/Monk
I want to say that it can be done, but I'm just not sure it can. The stat and level spread would be a nightmare; you want enough dex and wis for AC, enough str and monk levels for damage, and enough cleric spells and wis for spells. Your best bet is probably to pose this question directly to the git gud crew and see what they say.One Two Three Five wrote:Like, a battlecleric, but with monk levels. Unarmored. Anyone got tips?
Re: Cleric/Monk
Something that doesnt show in the builds I posted is that 18/2 spread at lvl 20 is really good for saves. Those two monk lvls give you +3 to all saves and 18th cleric gives you most of what you would get from 20 cleric.

Re: Cleric/Monk
Hope I'm not necroing this thread. This is a concept I'm very interested in. I'm probably missing something obvious but why are the above builds all lacking Dexterity? I figure we want Wisdom at 19 and dump the rest into Dex for AB and even more AC. Damage is a big concern for this build, but 18 Strength (+4) isn't going to help much, is it?

Re: Cleric/Monk
Most priests that get divine might/shield cap out at 18-22 str. But these are primarily caster clerics as best I can tell. There is no need to take TWF without the other two feats. But, maybe I am missing something. Anyway, if you are interested in a similar build then shoot me a PM with the race you'd like to play (human is best mechanically, but we can make it work with any race) and any other things you want included or not included. If you don't know then just say that and we can talk it out.
