Boar. I wish there was a Boar Totem.

Boar is rough. rude. selfish. irritable, short-tempered. UN-graceful, anything-but-noble.

yeah.. boar. nuff said.

Boar would make a nice totem for dwarves.

I miss the Rothe companion, gods I loved that.

Bear, because it's the best one.
Thankfully this team is no longer being used.

My favorite is spider, being mind spell and poison immune. Though they are kind of fragile.

I tried hawk for a long while because they supposedly have disarm but I never saw it actually work.

I've done comparisons using the NWN wiki's very detailed list of what happens to companions via the leveling script from level 1 to 40. Some forms have vastly superior damage output (see bear), others have sneak attacks up the wazoo (see panther). Others serve as great distractions (hawk with mobility e.g.).

In terms of interacting with the companion and with the world around it, and sticking with the non-totemic animal companion format, the plucky dire rat is my favourite though. Sadly for mechanical purposes, its disease DC seems to not increase with levels. Unless the leveling script is customized on Arelith, and this known bug is fixed?

I believe the panther is bugged and just stops getting sneak attack as well.
