Weapon Enhancements Stacking

Post by Spaniardl » Tue Jan 09, 2018 3:04 pm

Hello. I am a little confused with what stacks or not.

Can I cast greater magic weapon on a bronze weapon with a 1d6 essence on it?
Do people normally just use bronze weapons if they have +5 gmw?
What weapon buffs do stack?
Can any be applied to masterly damask?

Thanks

In order:
No
Yes
The following: Bless Weapon, Blackstaff, Holy Sword, Deafening Clang and Blade thirst.
See the above.

A lot of weapon buffs also have other changes, you can read about them here: http://wiki.arelith.com/Spell_changes#C ... _of_spells

Expanding on what Nitro said in response to this, you can't cast GMW on a weapon with any property at all on it, but you can add properties to a weapon after casting GMW on it without conflict.

So, for example, if you really needed an uber weapon for a single campaign, you could do something like:
1) cast GMW
2) use a basin to add keen (or 1d4 damage)
3) add a temporary essence

This would result in a +5 keen weapon with +1d6 [element]. It costs you about 1500 gp to make and is a single-adventure weapon essentially, but you can get 300-400 of that back by selling the keen weapon to an NPC after the GMW wears off to recover a little bit of it.
