You can farm:

Elves - Riders peak

Half-elves: Cirinti

Gnomes - Sprigs

I compiled a list of FE and SE to take and their IG locations based on this thread and some of my own experiences.
Given that Ranger 30 can take 7 FE and 6 SE, take into account that most rangers want to dip rogue/bard and/or fighter/AA, 5 FE and 4 SE are most likely the average amounts for dedicated ranger players.

Orders are based on rarity (farmable or not, for FE) and epic level occurrences (The more often, the more favorable for SE).

PvE choices, PvP choices, Both
Favored Enemies:
  1. Dragons - can't go wrong with this
  2. Abberations - Can be farmed in Lower Dark Driders of the UD or Surface Nagas, potential SE candidate
  3. Elves
  4. Half-Orcs - Can be farmed from Dark Spire near Brogendenstein or Harbage on Skal, potential SE candidate
  5. Halflings
  6. Half-Elves
  7. Gnomes
Studied Enemies:
  1. Outsiders - Skal has quite a number of mephit spawn points, easy farm for early levels, flagged as both due to some epic level summons being Outsiders
  2. Undead - Surface Endless Battlefield, Skal Ghostwood
  3. Human - Surface areas with bandits or barbarian tribes
  4. Giants - Auril Temple near Brog
  5. Dwarves - UD Darkspire, mostly Duergars
Anyone got any more to put on the list and/or suggestion on which should be prioritized over which?
Nice overview. The half-orcs at Harbage counts as Orcs though. Not half-orcs.

Fixed and updated the post.

All this time the half-orcs on Harbage has been false advertising then!

Yup!

I am also afraid that the "orcs" on the Dark Spire are not half-orcs either. In my last clearing of them I got no studied enemy count. I will try to test it today if I get the chance.

Half-orcs is definitely a favored enemy candidate.

Sidenote; I have no idea what xvarts are. Shard cleared the cave several times, and the grand total number of gnomes he had "studied" was like, 4. I do remember getting a "you've killed your first gnome" message before, though, so at least some of them are gnomes.

I think the Wyrmlings and Wyverns on Skal are counted as Dragons when examined. If the wyrmlings are, they'll make farming Dragon counts a trivial thing to do since they spawn in most maps on Skal.

Can anyone confirm?

The wyrmlings on Skal and Wyverns everywhere are indeed counted as dragons, I will proceed to put Dragon as a potential candidate for SE.

Does anyone know if Dragon should be considered a PvP choice, as well?

There is the EDK, and I have noticed a very few dragon PCs IG (mostly taken on Elven form). Was wondering that when those dragon PCs take on humanoid forms, would the Ranger's FE apply to those PC's as dragon or other humanoids (elves, human, dwarf, etc)?

Dragonshaped druids, as well.

I believe trolls are also considered giants, as well as the forest ogres of the Arelith forest, so the troll caves/Arelith Forest on the surface can be used to farm giants as favored enemies as well.

Hi,

Any suggestions on what to take after the changes introduced by the recent haks?

I have a few tips for UD rangers:

Easy Studied Enemies:
Human - Grimlocks
Dwarf - Derro and Duergar at Duerg'rs Fortress
Undead - Bonefields
Reptilian - Kua Toa at Ziggurat and Snappers at Floodplains
Giant - Ogrillons at Beneath the Heights and Giant's of the Deep past the coastal path.
Goblinoid - Quaggoth Nomads (there are plenty inside the nomad's cave)
Aberration - Driders, plenty of driders next to the Outpost all the way to the petrified forest.

Medium difficulty or requires high levels:
Elf - Rider's Peak
Half-Elf - Cirinti at Ruins
Gnome - Spriggans at Urdlen's Pass, past Rider's Peak
Orc - Ice Road closer to Duergar's Fortress and inside first level of Duergar's Fortress
Outsider - Quick farm at Baator but requires high level

Rarer enemies, highly suggest choosing directly from feat:
Halfling
Half-Orc - You can find these at Ice Roads but most spawns will be orogs so you will have an easier time picking as feat
Dragon - Possible to farm wyrms when they spawn at higher rates at higher levels at Beneath the Heights, but faster to pick the feat
Fey (if you're going for all playable races)
Elemental - Possible to farm at Burning Spires but faster to get as feat (if you're going for all playable races)

Green - PvP worth enemies.

Note: Didn't add Dragon as playable race, because nowadays there are very few dragon shapers. Fey and Elemental are very rare too in PvP so you're not missing much by not picking these.
