The Traveler

Post by Baron Saturday » Sat Dec 16, 2017 9:40 am

Okay, been messing around with a concept, but I find myself struggling. There's a few boxes I'm trying to check here:

GSF: Transmutation
HiPS
No deity requirement
Human/Elf/Half-Elf

Probably looking at a Dex build? Idea is a character who can travel quickly and (relatively) safely. I want to do some sightseeing, dangit! So many areas added in the last few years and I've barely seen any of them.

Assuming I'm reading the GSF: Transmutation changes correctly, you could probably just drop 3/4 Ranger levels into a Rogue/Shadowdancer build and get access to -teleport. Deity won't matter because you won't really have any ranger spells anyway, so you can waffle on Wisdom.

Shaundakul is the obvs deity of flavour! And monk for high speeds. Could even go Feylock 12 for infini-Haste and Invis.
Characters: all poor babies suffering from neglect

Something that casts invisible and haste, and as much monk as you can take.

Forget Epic Dodge, Monk Speed is the best feat in NWN.

Especially if you're an archer.

4 Bard/ 10 Knight/ 16 SD would be pretty cool.

12 feylock, 11 monk, 7 SDD

Your AB will be rather lousy!

However you will have HIPS and be able to go as fast as possible (Expeditious Retreat stacks with itself up to the monk cap: http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Expeditious_Retreat). This also gives you slippery mind and evasion meaning you are able to avoid most things that'd stop you from running (outside of fort saves). You'll also have invisibility for when HIPS is on cooldown and cloud of bewilderment which can stun/blind enemies (which you're immune to due to diamond body - your DC may not be high, but you'll get lots of chances in combat to have them fail). Unlimited displacement will also give you 50% concealment.

This also means you have the feats to get Epic Dodge!

Ranger 5 (one in epic)/Shadowdancer 14/Rogue 11
Not something I would ever play but your mileage etc. Or, I guess, a feylock/SD

Generally leaning away from monks and 'locks, having played a monk and a 'lock as my two longest-lived characters.

Ranger/SD/Rogue and Bard/Knight/SD both sound interesting, will mess around with those! Thanks, all.
