Healer build

Post by Amineh123 » Thu Dec 07, 2017 4:09 pm

Hello, can someone help me out and give me a step-by-step build for a healer path?
I'm thinking for an elf, as a support, fighting with a summon alone, but purely healing in a party.
I'm dumb with that stuff, seriously.

Elves get.. 7 pre-epic feats?
Healer clerics want to max wis. No armor favors 3-4 monk levels.
Some pre-21 feat recommendations: Greater conjuration focus, greater evocation focus, extend spell (you're going travel/trickery right), empower-or-maximize (your mileage for these may vary, I prefer maximize generally), that leaves you with one. Scribe scroll is a popular cleric feat these days, I guess.

In epic: Epic focus in conj and evo, dragon knight, hellball, greater ruin.
The devil does not need any more advocates
Clerics are just socially acceptable warlocks.

Do you want a pure healer build with little or no offensive capability?

That's a super easy build.

Ensure you have conjuration foci. Get Greater Conjuration Focus ASAP.

You can go pure 30 for the (frankly underwhelming) level 28 perk -respite or dip a few levels in Monk for that sweet wisdom AC.

Be a Sun Elf for the +2 to intelligence which should help you flesh out your skills.

Stats (before gifts):

Strength 9 (buffing this to 14 will give you plenty of strength for lugging healkits around)
Dexterity 10 (Sun Elf malus will bring it down to 8)
Con 12 (you won't be getting hit often, and you have extra HP from Overheal)
Int 14 (16 with Sun Elf bonus)
Wis 17 (19 with gift)
Cha 12 (buff this to ~22 with gear and Eagle's Splendor)

Gifts:
+2 wisdom is mandatory
The other major gift can be anything, Con and Int are both good choices for more HP or more Skillpoints respectively.
Could also take Gift of Craftsmanship.

Domains - Healing, and the other is your choice.
Some options are:
Protection for a really powerful sanctuary that lasts a very long time.
Plant for barkskin, if you're a nature-themed healer.
Animal for early true seeing and access to Cat's Grace.
Travel for Haste, which allows you to free up those quicken and autoquicken feats for something else. But imo that's so standard as to be quite boring. ;P

All points go into wisdom for a maximum of 26 (38 buffed) at level 28. This gives you ample spellslots for those really long dungeon runs.

02 Cleric(2)
03 Cleric(3) GSF: Conjuration
04 Cleric(4)
05 Cleric(5)
06 Cleric(6) Extend Spell
07 Cleric(7)
08 Cleric(8)
09 Cleric(9) Maximize OR Empower Spell
10 Cleric(10)
11 Cleric(11)
12 Cleric(12) Craft Wand
13 Cleric(13)
14 Cleric(14)
15 Cleric(15) Scribe Scroll
16 Cleric(16)
17 Cleric(17)
18 Cleric(18) Quicken Spell
19 Cleric(19)
20 Cleric(20)
21 Cleric(21) Dragon Knight
22 Monk(1)
23 Monk(2)
24 Monk(3) Epic Skill Focus: Discipline
25 Cleric(22)
26 Cleric(23) ESF: Conjuration
27 Cleric(24) Auto Quicken I
28 Cleric(25)
29 Monk(4) - max out discipline to 32 and tumble to 30 here!
30 Cleric(26) Auto Quicken II, III

Edit: Can't take Dragon Knight on an Epic Bonus Feat as a cleric.

Gear-wise you want to aim for around 8 wisdom and 7 constitution. If you can fit some charisma in there, too, you'd be golden.

This looks like a really interesting and fun build Wytchee.

Just a small issue @lvl30 - You cannot take AutoQuicken on Monk levels.. BUT you can do it on BARD

So I would go with the same spread as You have in there but use Bard instead of Monk..

This build is a typical caster cleric thus You are not aiming to be in melee, so Monk AC would be of quite low value anyway.

I would also go with only Scribe Scroll as I prefer it and would put in the free Pre-Epic feat into Zen Archery @lvl 6 instead and use Sling/Darts for long range sustained damage.

All other feats I would simply bump up so Extend would land at 9 instead of 6... etc etc

If Human - I would use SF/GSF:Transmute instead of Zen Archery.

Easy fix. Just switch around the later levels a bit.

The rest of what you suggest is largely personal preference. I really like the utility of Craft Wand, especially for spells like Protection from Elements, Lesser Restoration, and Cure Blindness/Deafness. While scribing scrolls would have the same effect, it's more costly in the end to craft 30 scrolls than to craft a single wand with 30+ charges.

Keep in mind that you lose the ability to use a bow if you take healer path. I don't know if being an elf remedies this.

If it doesn't, your zen archery would be for a crossbow.

Elves lose their racial weapon proficiencies upon taking the path.

Keep in mind too that this would necessitate taking rapid reload.

I would suggest taking 18 cleric and then starting monk for +2 fort/will and +3 reflex, just from flat saves progression (14/14/9 instead of 12/12/6).
