Okay! New idea. Is it possible to make a shadow dragon RDD mesh with the new shadow weave class? SD levels a plus!

Not especially.

The lack of bonus spell slots for the shadow mage is a dead end with respect to multiclassing. You'll need at least 17 mage levels to be a relevant caster (ideally, 20, for full slots).

Gishy builds aren't really an option here, either. The mage book just doesn't synergize too well with the concept.

The best shadow mage build is probably Wizard 26/Bard 4 (i.e. no SD levels). If you really want to go for HiPS, you could aim for Wizard 21/SD 6/Bard 3*, though you lose one epic and one pre-epic feat for doing so, and will have a rough time leveling to boot (i.e. this build assumes you go Wizard 14/SD 6 pre-epic). If you want an easier time leveling, you can go Wizard 22/SD 5/Bard 3 and not bother with deferring the 15th level mage feat into epic levels, but this puts you in the position of being short two epic feats, rather than just one -- which is pretty crippling.

(* Wizard 21/SD 6/Bard 3 nets you room for one epic spell. If you're not interested in epic spells, go Wizard 20/SD 7/Bard 3 instead for Slippery Mind. Not a great perk, but hey, it's free.)
