Permission for Raise Dead or a Resurrection

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:
- implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
- the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
- the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to tweak X class.

Permission for Raise Dead or a Resurrection

Post by lakhena » Sat Nov 03, 2018 2:55 pm

I would love to see some way to allow PCs to accept, reject, or delay being raised or resurrected, in case the sprit is not ready or unwilling to return to the living. There could be all sorts of RP reasons for this - trauma, conditions not being met that would allow the spirit to return, a mismatch of who is calling the spirit back (deity mismatch), or just because something is happening in the fugue plane that needs to be resolved first. The last was true last night, for example — we had three spirits RPing and it was unfortunately cut short, whereas a small delay would have been nice.

This could be done by using a similar permission screen as the yoinks or putting a token in the players inventory which they could use when ready to return.
Now playing:
Azalea the Magnificent
Thaelyn Lyrandel (retired)

I can see good reasons for this, but am concerned it would be used to avoid consequences, and lead to long tell conversations/bargaining over terms. Rejected.

To clarify, you still need consent before raising anybody, especially your enemies post-PVP. This is because of the 24-hour rule. By giving consent, both sides are agreeing to waive the 24-hour rule to continue roleplaying.

Report instances such as the 24-hour rule being broken or a player OOCly harassing others for a raise/to waive the 24-hour rule. It will be handled case-by-case.
Be kind.
