When cast on a PC, and with the aid of Greater Spell Focus: Necromancy, Contagion infects its target with a plague which turns them into a universally hostile shambling mindless automaton for a brief period. (Like zombie night back in 2009, or whenever it was.) Can only be cured by Remove Disease.
Bonus Points: The plague enters a dormancy phase upon expiration, after which it presents at limited random intervals until cured. Spreads on touch, like Lycanthropy, but with a save.

Re: Necromancy Focus and Contagion
This makes me think of the plague that World of Warcraft did. OMGrasshoppers, it was completely awesome and Actual CDC people ended up using what happened as a real study of vectors and based a few new models after what WoW did.
You have the thanks of a grateful server conglomeration of nations... Thanks!
