Report it and perhaps they can be restored?

unfortunately, when the board containing the Archdruid-History was noticed, it was after a time of over a month that I'd been up there... no telling when that sucker was removed(or broken) and it was the ONLY thing missing (that I can tell) *shrugs* we recently had a board go missing from the Ranger Cabin... message board theft/destruction is just a fact of life for {Heartwood Grove} fixtures.

well I suppose what you consider 'relevant information' is all relative.caldura firebourne wrote:... had seen relevant historical information on it, I would have left this one alone ooc'ly and probably just made off with your wolvesbane plant... that admittedly I've been eyeing for a while now
Kind of applies to all of these timelines.Emotionaloverload wrote:It might be good to include a disclaimer that specifies that this is one version of events and shouldn't be considered accurate/complete IG history for any players that might not know.

/agree. but, this is written as a record for Ranger/Druid/Heartwood RP, I think it should be factual but offer some perspective OF a Ranger/Druid.WithoutEffort wrote:History is written by the victors.
I think this sort of thing should really be kept track of IC though, as it certainly provides a massive amount of RP for characters who are interested in local histories. Particularly for druids, who typically have oral traditions of passing on their histories.
This all happened. It may be interpreted by the reader 10+ different ways based on the reader's memories of things, but it is a basic bullet-point outline of what happened and some fallout. Three rangers were indeed spurned by the Grove and exiled by Myon for their support of Wicket.a Drow druid named Wicket Witherdusk appeared in the Heartwood Grove, asking for admittance, claiming she only wished to live in peace and to be part of a "family" again. At first, admitted and welcomed by the Ranger Orion Stormwood, under guise that Wicket could be part of the Grove if she maintained and kept to the laws and traditions of the Grove but later withdrawn after a pattern of violence and uncooperation by Wicket. Wicket was eventually spurned by the Grove, save for three Rangers: Yuri Evergreen and two of the four elven brothers of the Ninaste family. A terrible conflict resulted in the deaths first of Mila Lane and then Orion Stormwood (who's spirit was discovered years later wandering the Plane of Death by the elven archmage, Daijin.) Known as "The Druid-Abomination" for cutting off her feet to magically graft talons of a harpy to the end of her legs, Wicket eventually succumbed to madness, taking her own life, and the three Rangers who supported her, Yuri and the two Ninaste Brother, cast out of the Grove and exiled for life from Myon.
This happened and was a major landmark in the Grove's timeline, to the point this is how some characters measure how long they've been a part of the Grove. After the death of Mila Lane during the occupation of the Heartwood by the aforementioned druid-harpy-abomination, Wicket Witherdusk, Navira stepped down as Archdruid and returned to the mainland, choosing Xarina Moonstalker as her successor. Xarina was unanimously accepted as the next Archdruid, but like many Archdruids before, Xarina disappeared from Arelith.
This happened. interpretation is left to the reader. it could be argued that Memmorath's association with the Banites could be omitted, but IMO, it puts things into perspective.Clara served as Archdruid during a difficult time where the Heartwood Grove came into direct conflict with Guldorand, under the leadership of mayor Memmorath Mer'sham, a former Banite.
A DM story arc that resulted in a DM event: The attack by the Sky Talker Druids. Boilded down to three sentences.Memmorath made a trade deal with Amn to deliver 30,000 units of raw logged lumber to Amn. The intense logging required to meet the deal caused a great stir on the mountains slopes of the Skull Craigs. In response to the heavy logging, the aggressive Sky-Talker druids attacked Guldorand
I think it was very neutral to add that Guldorand spared what they considered innocents. I think it's fair to say that the Sky-Talkers that have appeared back on the Skull Craigs today are the a result of the fact that Guldroand saved some children, who grew up, and some returned home to re-populat the Sky-Talkers that are there today.{...Guldorand} responded first by attacking the Mountain camp of the Sky Talker druids, slaying every Druid, causing the genocide of the entire tribe of Sky Talkers (Save a few small children who Guldorand took in as wards to raise).
This happened first as a DM'ed event, and the module was altared for the Dryads to do thier war dance.Second, forces from Guldorand slashed the trees around the Mountain Grove, and then attacking and killed all the Dryads of those trees. With the Trees slashed, the Dryads were unable to flee to the safety of the trees. The Dryads were all killed, save a single Dryad, who escaped, but was mortally wounded. The sole surviving Dryad of the Mountain Grove was carried by a Treant to the Heartwood, where she was attempted to be saved by some Archdruidess, Clara Ders, Senior Rangers Orion Stormwood and Simon del Solis, and Druid of Kossuth, Lomir. Unfortunately, the wounds of the Dryad were too severe and she perished on the floor of the Heartwood Grove's cavern. The Dryad's last words were a plea to the Heartwood members to avenge the mountain grove and the killing of the Muntain Grove's Dryads.
The Dryads of the Heartwood Grove, the ones often found dancing around the Heartwood's binding Heartstone, went into a rage, and danced a war-dance of revenge against Guldorand that continued un-ending for two straight months.
There are TONS of details left out of this account. It is bare bones. I tried to write it in the way a neutral news-agency wire story would appear. X happend. Y people showed up to oppose it Z happened as a result. -any interpretation in this is on the part of the reader. any 'intent' by the participants has been omitted so what is included is representational of unbiased events. X happend with Y participants which resulted in Z.When the day came for Guldorand to deliver the raw logged lumber to the Amnish barge, Heartwood Grove members stood in opposition. Among those in attendance were the Heartwood Grove's Archdruidess, Clara Ders. The Heartwood attempted to disable the Barge to prevent its departure, but Amnish fought back and the barge was sunk due to incidental damages incurred by the battle between the Amnish and the Grovers.
The hanging of an archdruidess of the Grove IMO is a significant milestone in the Grove's history. All the little details have been stricken. Eye-witness accounts of what happened from each side are too conflicting in point of view to include. Evidence collected at the scene (snake-bite wounds, etc..) is all circumstantial and subject to interpretation. What is not subject to interpretation? That a child survived and that child's testimony was used to convict the archdruid. the punishment was death by hanging. The punishment was carried out. as above X event happened, Y people were involved, resulting in Z. Brief and factual. Interpretation is subject to the reader. The upon the word of a traumatized surviving Amnish child that washed up on shore, the reformed Banite Mayor of Guldorand held a trial convicting the Archdruidess, Clara Ders of murder, carrying a punishment of death. The Archdruidess, Clara Ders was executed by hanging.
I feel the same way. There was a general agreement among the original contributors here that we'd leave out "modern history" and focus our efforts on compiling impossibly old knowledge that could no longer be obtained IC. This was never really supposed to be an up-to-date, running record of all names and events, which discourages actual IC historical efforts.WithoutEffort wrote:History is written by the victors.
