((I apologize if this is not allowed, but I read that we are allowed to have in-game documents that we can talk about here, so I figured this was the best place as I dont know of a way to include such a report on standard paper which has a 2k char limit, let me know If I should remove this))

Report Date: ((March 22, 2019))
Report Author: Barbara Thunderfoot
Report Location: The Nomad Inn Performer Stage

BEGIN Report:

On this day took place the formal debate between Miranda Magna (M) and Perfidia Valdez(P).

A ten-day and a half before the voting ballots opened for the election of Chancellor, the debate started mostly on time, with a slight miscommunication on exact location being solved rather quickly.

Whilst escorting M throughout the inn, I saw the final advertisements being worked upon and placed upon approval by Wontan Woodberry, the Nomads perennial face. Soon, a large crowd gathered forth; dwarves, gnomes, halfling folk and the like all gathered among the two human females running for office. Some sat upon poofs, others drank from their legs a fine alcohol or otherwise munched loudly on nuts.

After a brief introduction by both candidates, it was clear the first difference between the two running.

P described herself as coming from nothing and working among various Cordor factions to contribute to the cities production where she veritably lived a rags to riches story and eventually wanted to expand the good she could give back to the city.

M described herself as having swiftly come into politics by chance, befriending the current powers in place and at first laughing at their compliments that she might make a good head. Though she laughed it off at first, after contributing during the stone crisis with her own manual labor as well as earning the title of Heartstone Champion.

With their histories summarized, the floor was opened to questions from the now murmuring crowd. Asked to raise hands and be called upon, one gentlemen burst forth interrupting the flow of dialogue and was swiftly shamed to follow order. The first in order question was in fact, an order, one Bugburger was requested by an Olivia. Im sure it was served after the debate and was very tasty.

I believe fellow Guardsman (he was standing in the back where it was darker) named Jace asked next what laws in particular would be removed or changed in a big way.

P stated in her answer, and throughout the debate, that she held conservative viewpoints and wanted to take a cautious approach to any major revisions. M pretty much agreed with hers but had more of an open policy to change when it came to the Banites.

As talks digressed from the question at hand into what to do about the Drow threat, another question was asked by one Leandre, who wanted to know how the balance would be struck between those who are actually allowed to enter the city of Cordor.

P was clearly focusing on definitions and eager to spread trade to all those that would abide strictly to our laws of trade, regardless of race creed or call.
M was also strict with clarifying definitions but her comments on how the people of Cordor themselves have an institutionalized racism towards drow, deep gnomes and deep imaskeri.

A rather charismatic man of the moniker Lyric was next. He made his question simple and to the point: “Who will you select as your vice and why?”.

M had asked Emily herself to be vice, but had not received a definite confirmation yet.
As for P, she opted to elect an official once she was in office and better understood what it was like to entrench herself in the new position.

Soon after, the debate hit its highest point of contention. A rather stubborn dwarf by the name of Vighjalm Vintergard insisted on direct and immediate answers to the plight of the thousands of slaves across the PAX who were being abused, slaughtered or banished whilst he felt the Government of Cordor was standing idly by.

It is not my place or within my ability to fully transcribe the emotions, tones and body language that would give accurate description to the events but it was clear that this was the hot button topic of the evening. After many stories were shared of personal witnessing of atrocities towards slaves, it was clear both parties wanted to find a better solution for the plight of the enslaved but this was neither the format or the time for such matters to be truly resolved.

Many of the evenings questions were not presented in this report as this Recruit did have patrol duty around the perimeters of the Nomad to ensure nothing unscrupulous would occur, but I was able to catch a look of relief on both candidates face as the debate closed down.

That look that they both shared, that one, solitary expression, was all I needed to see to never complain about my simple patrol duties again.
