Faeren Reihlin: More Than A Ranger

Post by FrozenSolid » Fri Jun 23, 2017 10:19 am

Faeren scowled at the pie crust she was trying to make. Why was this so hard? She thought. Fae huffed and cast a glance out the kitchen window. Jonah would be on his way home soon. She had to get this one right!

Fae was in the kitchen that was apart of the house she shared with her husband. The kitchen was a mess. She had tried to make the pie crust none less than six times and had her failed attempts gathered in a heap on the table, there was dough on the floor, ceiling and everwyhere else. Luckily being adventurers meant they were reasonably wealthy and knowing her difficulties with pie crust she had bought enough ingredients to fail multiple times.

"Okay... Let's see... The last one wasn't thick enough so i need more.. Aha!" She unleahsed her pent up rage on the dough kneading and forming it into shape.

It's a funny thing to think about people in their personal lives. Who was Faeren when she wasn't in her amour? Who was she when no one was looking? Only a few knew, there was only a few she would let her guard down enough to show.

Faeren was 18. She was married and living life. She enjoyed making dinner for her husband. She attended classes on how to be a mother and eagerly anticpated the real thing. She had a dumb doll that she had got to practice holding and diaper changing. She enjoyed reading fictional stories written by reputable bards in her free time. And she enjoyed sharing a life with her husband, Jonah Reihlin.

Could her enemies hate her as much as they did if they saw her in these quiet moments? Would she have been tortured if they saw her with her dumb doll pretending to be a mother? And Could Faeren hate them if they were the same? Maybe one would never know. But one thing was certain. Life is precious and there is almost always more to a person than what meets the eye.

Faeren was up early that morning. She slid out of bed leaving the warmth of her second half as her bare feet padded across the wooden floor of the upper level of the Reihlin house. Golden sunlight streamed through the curtains, it made Fae smile. Jonah had purchased this small house for them and she was thrilled by it. A place to call home... It meant more than she could describe.

Faeren made her way out of their bedroom and slid into the spare room. Shs moved over to the small bed and tugged a backpack out from beneath it. She sat on the bed pulling the pack into her lap. Sticking out of the top of the bag was a doll. She removed the thing then scooped it into her arms. To Faeren, this wasn't a doll. It was a real baby, warm and heavy in her arms. She adjusted her positioning of it just like she learned in class. Her arms came up to support the babies head she sat there holding it. A smile touched her lips.

"One day, Cordor will be safe, and mercenaries won't be coming to kill mommy, then we'll have you for real." She told the doll with a thin smirk

"One day it will be safe." She repeated with a sigh as she sat on the bed holding her dumb doll like it was the real thing. She turned her head to look out the window and watch the sun creep through rhe curtains.
