Broind Keglighter
Below follows the history of Broind Keglighter and his clan before their arrival to Arelith.
Broind is born, as a son of Brand Keglighter, in Ironspur, a town with about 1000 inhabitants, in the Galena Mountains. The Galena Mountains are a natural border of Vaasa in Northeast Faerûn. The terrain is extremely jagged and permanently topped with ice and snow. The winters are harsh hand during the summer the farming season is short.
The Galena Moutains are part of the monarchy Damara (Population: 1,321,920 humans 87%, dwarves 6%, halflings 4%, half-orcs 2%) The capital of Damara is Heliogabalus.
The Galena Mountains are rich in bloodstone, iron and silver. So especially dwarves go there for mining, even though orc, goblinoids and giants are very hostile. Well-armed dwarf patrols try to keep the monsters at bay.
Broind is a member of the Keglighter clan, one of the six most powerful clans in the area. The Thane of the clan is Foilir. Members of the clan publicly are followers of Moradin and Dumathion. The Thane is rich and successful, but he is on a continuous quest for more success and riches, so he trains and sponsors young and successful dwarves out into Fearûn to find good locations to start new outposts and trading posts.

Broind choose to become a cleric like his father, who learned him the basic things. To become a successful cleric Broind got the advise to go and see a lot of the world and gain wisdom by seeing an doing. His father went on his big influence by the Thane and asked the Thane for a membership in the group of explorers, which got the task to setup a trading post. After a short period of preparations, he went off and went in to the Galena Mountains. He met Cornee and later on Higan who got also the task to join the group of explorers. By joining Cornee and Higan, Broind got the opportunity to get into the world with a good protection from two skilled warriors.
Thane Foilir selected Cornee and Higan them for additional training in defensive combat tactics. After both of them completed the training, a group of eight dwarves was formed. Besides Higan and Cornee and Broind, the sonnlinor Dillinus, and axebringers Bardin, Hegan and Jeppe and talesbringer Grimly. Their goal is, as mentioned before, to set up a new trading post at the best possible location they can find. To acheive their goal they got gold and the best equipment available. Higan and Cornee would be leading the group and held responsible for their safety.
Higan is the natural leader and Cornee is the second in command. Broind, and even more Dillinus have an unwritten job to keep the peace in the group, The high tempered warriors have sometimes discussions which will end up in a armed fight when they aren’t stopped by one of the Clerks Also is the task of the two clerks to keep everybody on track of their duty to setup a trading post, and nothing else
The group travelled to the southwest, to Cormyr. They hoped to have some luck in Arabel, a crossroad of tradingroutes. They figured it would be a perfect location for trade. Unfortunately it appeared to be very hard to set up a new trading post. The houses of Arabel did whatever they could to keep any newcomers away from the market.
The group moved on toward the very wealthy nation Amn. They tried their luck at the eastern city Keczulla. Once Keczulla was a flourishing city with rich gold and iron mines. But for the last two hundred years there was not much found, apart from gems. The Keglighters hoped to find undiscovered veins, but hard efforts learned that the mines really dried up. They hardly made enough gold to travel on to a new location.
Encouraged by rumors about streets paved with gold, the group headed for Athkatla, the capital of Amn. But they soon found out that the great stories were untrue. The opportunities to set up a successful trading post did not look great. But in Athkatla, they first heard about some mysterious island in the trackless sea, named Arelith. According to the man who told thme about the island, it would have great riches in all minerals one can think of. A sailor in Calimport would be prepared to sail people to this mysterious island. Disappointed in the Amnish capital the group decided to move south to Calimport, the capital to Calimshan.
At Calimport they found the most disturbing situation so far. Like many cities, the majority of the population was human. Then there were many halflings and half-orcs. The halflings were extremely lazy and mainly were tob e found at the port district, especially around a gambling house called the Copper Ante. On top of this the pretty large half-orc population was being treated as lower class. Though that is not a very good treatment, it is a lot better than they are treated in other realms. And way too good in the eyes of a dwarf. Cornee got very upset about this situation, and wanted to leave as soon as possible.
The group suggested to enter a ship to search for Arelith. Searching for new possibilities
Final goal for Broind is to become one of the most important clerks for his Thane, whether this is in the new made trading post, or “home” in Ironspur.

(The original was already placed on the 'old forum' somewhere around 2010)
A special thanks to the player who played Cornee. he created the beginning of this story

During the time Hera was regent over Brogendenstein, Ursullir and Broind met. They had a good time together, discovered the isle, Ursullir Grimskald became Ambassador of Brogendenstein in Cordor, Broind became the high Sonnlinor of the golden halls after Hera went to Goran Bloodletter and Regent Cornee was leading the halls. All went well.
Till that day that Ursullir disappeared from the isle, no note, no witnesses, nothing. Not having any clue Broind went searching for her, First to the South where he knew her place ot birth is, but with no result he went back and kept asking if one had seen her. After he searched the south he went north, there was a light possibility that Ursullir went to Ironspur, for whatever reason that might be.
When Broind came closer to Ironspur, he found scenes of war, it seemed that a plundering group was wandering around.
When he arrived what was once Ironspur, he saw that all kin were killed and burned, the houses were burned. And the once proud town Ironspur was not more than a black burned ruin.
Broind found out that the plundering group was a bunch of orc’s that came from a nearby valley.
Here his hate against the orc was born. He see them as evil, non-trustable and selfish sinister creatures.
Disappointed and uncertain he went back after three years of searching to Arelith.
still mourning for his lost Ursillir, but hoping that she would return one day.

in these days on Arelith he met a judge, named Tathkar Eisgrim. He advised him to look for a human, called Karkassus of Sembia. According to him he was a skilled one that could find what was lost.
And he did found her, released her from her changes, but from there its uncertain. but Ursullir set foot on the isle of Arelith again.
