Another Final project from this past semester: This one from my Intro to VFX compositing class.
Embedding the video with BBC code doesn't seem to work here, but here is the Vimeo Link. https://vimeo.com/218698973
The assignment was to destroy something on campus. How cool of an assignment is that?
Shot with an OSMO (one of those fancy hand-held gimble rigs) attached to on a long/tall pole which was lowered to simulate a jib shot. The ship is made from scratch in Maya (very basic geometry with a Renderman Preset shader) and rendered as a PNG sequence w/ alpha, then composited together with the raw footage in After Effects. The Final Edit and audio design was assembled in Avid's Media Composer (not a big fan of PrPro).
Debris and fire FX were from Video Copilot's Action Essentials pack. I wish I could say I had the talent to create my own explosions... Just downloaded Houdini Apprentice, so that's coming next.
