Peregrine Gwil - Farewell

Post by Zavandar » Mon Dec 31, 2018 2:06 am

I am Peregrine Gwil, paladin of Arvoreen and knight of the Radiant Heart.

I typed that a lot playing Peregrine. What started as me just wanting to play halfling Saltzpyre (from Vermintide) blossomed into the most enjoyable character I've played on Arelith. He is now heading off to Luiren to start a family, something he thought he'd never do.

He made many friends and many enemies, and was the source of much conflict and controversy. I loved it.

Thanks to:
Syrallea and Syralen, for being his companions as he grew as a character.
The Ironmoors, for putting his beliefs to the test and being his first nemeses.
Augustus, for exiling Peregrine from Cordor and making me explore the world.
The Radiant Heart, for showing me the breadth of the Lawful Good spectrum. Kerri, Sylrie, Garm, Escott, as well as Berenor and Petra. And Rhudaeil. And Alastriona ;)
Ruigardt, for helping Peregrine trust Cordor again.
Airli, for instilling in Peregrine a healthy respect for fairies.
Zathlan, for token (and sensible) sass.
Susan, for gettin' the goods.
Oskar, Meriam, Suli, and Shadow, for being Peregrine's staunch opposition and generating conflict.
Wotan, for being a fantastic wild-card.
Lobelia, for pulling Peregrine's story out of stagnation and for giving it a satisfying conclusion.

Catch you in the next story!

We had one hell of a time going out on adventures and clashing with all sorts of rivals along the way. Reinvigorated a feeling I'd lost for a while over Arelith.
Past Characters: Shaeris Sedranas, Katrysa Seran, Zarune, Nishara Sedranas, Maevren Ebonhawk, Syralen, Sevrana (Disguised), Seradria Della'thar.

Wait, was him leaving during the dart game his final farewell? "I'm unfortunately going to leave?"
Alia: The uncanny knack of Angela Amana to make the otherwise perpetually well-mannered girl lose her temper and be HORRIBLY ASHAMED afterwards.

It was.

Said as much on my own kudos thread, but he had an unexpected impact on Lobelia's story that really changed things. Definitely a memorable experience.

I didn't get to interact with him much, but when I did, I always enjoyed the character. He stood out to Garrett early on as being willing to speak against Bane in Cordor, amid an apathetic crowd. Seriously, I have an unfinished profile in one of my wordpad files I've got open right now that I never went to finish:

(Peregrine Gwil)
-Hin male. Bare feat, otherwise full armour. Steel armour. Cloth is blue with silver highlights. Chainmail leggings, plate tunic. Cloak wrapped around arms. Helmet has a red tassel on top.
-Wears the symbol of the Radiant Heart.
-Was very verbally against David Ironmoor and his bid in the Cordor election, "That a 'former' Banite attempts to claim the chancellorship immediately after the chancellor was allegedly assassinated by Banites is incredibly suspicious."

That was really cool. Here was this guy, just calling things out in a crowd, making sure everyone heard and knew it. I look forward to seeing where things end up going with Rick, his story is pretty spicy as well.
