Morderon's recent efforts (and past too!)

Post by Irongron » Fri Apr 06, 2018 9:02 am

It often seems to me we have a lot of unsung/underappreciated members of the team, and goodness knows many of them have been working their socks of these last weeks.

I could start threads for them each, but for now at least I want to say a few words about Morderon.

This a developer with a long commitment to Arelith that asks for nothing in return. To this day I've still no idea who he plays, or indeed very much about him/her at all. Not unlike a superhero he often just swoops down when we need him most.

For those of you that don't know Moderon's general area of expertise/background is in the settlement & faction system, having introduced the latter, and many of the more recent features of the former (warehouse system etc).

It seems that he's always devising new way to improve the game, and can often show up with highly original ideas. He's also a workhorse, someone I have discovered I can generally call on when things get difficult for us.

I was inspired to make this topic following his recent work on addresssing shop/inventory/container & stacking bugs. For those of you unaware this was a key area of NWNX function we are as yet unable to port over from 1.69, had delayed migration in the first place, and has been the cause of much inconvenience among players.

Over much of these last days, when many of us have been enjoying playing EE he has been knee deep in code, fixing this issue for us, and with so much to consider it hasn't been easy.

While it is very simple for us to get frustrated when things are broken, it is often hard to understand the efforts that can go into fixing them. Without Morderon this would have stayed broken much longer, and while I've never seen him ask for it, I thought if we could share a few words of appreciation then he might see just how valued his efforts have been! (Also, well because we're sure to be asking him for more in future...)

Wuuhuu! Go Morderon! :D

Thanks buddy, for all of the work you've put in and continue to put in.

You are clearly one of the reasons the Arelith is not only still alive, but continues to grow.

Love, love! ;)

Honestly, this guy needs a vacation after what I’ve been seeing him do. From the point of me waking up to the time I head to bed, he’s working on fixing the game so you can have everything running smoothly.

It is appreciated from all of us without doubt. He’s found work around to ensure that you have certain functionality that NWNX provides and has been quick to fix bugs.

Thanks again!

Yeah, really fantastic work! Some of the stuff you've implemented has really made the game so much more awsome for me. And your vwork fixing things of late has been absolutly amazing. Thank you!
This too shall pass.

(I now have a DM Discord (I hope) It's DM GrumpyCat#7185 but please keep in mind I'm very busy IRL so I can't promise how quick I'll get back to you.)

He does. Morderon = Jared Laic, for those who remember him.

A real pillar of this community, and we're blessed to have him.

Keeping up with the fires of EE so far has to have been an effort no normal mortal could handle.

I only pray Moderon's soul receives what it deserves, obtaining safe passage to Vahalla when all this is over.

Tireless workhorse who's never shy of taking up any issues we encounter, and keeps his good attitude while at it, is how I'd describe him.

Totally deserving a proper kudos thread! Thanks for all the hard work!

The post bug page is only five pages long, that should be what one or two days max to fix? =) I'm guessing since He's Jared and my assassin stabbed him is why the QS issues are still happening. His way of punishing me for a friendly death attack.

But seriously I can't imagine all the work it's takes trying to fix the bugs while keeping the server running.
