Re: Working on a player list.
So far the user interface and operation is smooth. I'm not a big fan of pop-up interactions, but they seem to work.
The LONG list of played alts is rather scary, as is the data on their playtimes. Making a new bioware name for each new alt may end up mandatory.

Re: Working on a player list.
Currently, the character history only displays "first seen" dates of characters.yellowcateyes wrote:...
That first seen is dependant on the first time the system cached said character.
Soon enough, I'll work with the others that have been caching longer than me to create a merged database.
One example is Liopia's Datum, and it's database. I have an older copy of it, and it is merged with the new backend, but that's not out yet so it doesn't benefit much to say that it is there.

Combining information networks and databases - wasn't that the plotline of the latest James Bond movie?Cihparg wrote:One example is Liopia's Datum, and it's database. Either way, the information the new scry is producing is interesting. Any idea how far back Liopia's Datum goes?

Datum is an ancient thing, possibly around 8 years old.

That is pretty ancient. Maybe I'll finally get to see whether Katar Black and Eric Silverarms were alts.

Re: Working on a player list.
I believe something odd may be happening in whatever you're doing to call character play-times. Having one primary character and three alts to speak of gives me the opportunity to notice this for you.
I play Astarial, who is just about to turn level 15 for a second time, almost a year after a remake after climbing to level 15 in about 8 months the first time.
I also play Talic, Jason, and played Venorik for a little bit. Not one of them has reached level 7. I very rarely log into them or play them.
Here are the playtimes listed for my characters.
I play Talic from time to time, still, as well. I'm surprised he doesn't have more playtime than Jason...

Of the four characters, I have -absolutely- and without question spent more time on Astarial than all the others, yet he shows up as the least. I've also not played very much of Jason or Venorik at all- both were underdarker concepts where my playtimes didn't allow me to keep up with the groups I was interacting with, so my interests waned.Something is not right here... wrote: Playtime, Total: 14d, 6h, 39m, 0s.

The playtime counter came around together around summer, so it's missing at least 7 months of playtime in itself.Aelryn Bloodmoon wrote:......Something is not right here... wrote: Playtime, Total: 14d, 6h, 39m, 0s.

It's counted a total of 1233540 seconds on your account.
The date shown is DD/MM/YY HH:MM:SS, and does not include playtime.

Re: Working on a player list.
I don't think you are reading that correctly.
11/01/2015 02:00:34 should be the last time you played him - on the eleventh of November 2015, at 2am (and 34 seconds) in whatever timezone the time is returned in.
If it were total playtime of the character, adding up the numbers from every character would give you a total of around 20 hours.
~2 hrs + ~ 7.5 hrs + ~5.5 hrs + ~5 hrs is not equal to 14 days (336 hrs), 6 hrs, and 39m.

Am I right in thinking that the bolded bit is when the character was created? If so, you've got a bit of a problem - day and month are correct, but all years are showing as 2015, even for characters I know were made years ago.Something is not right here... wrote: Playtime, Total: 14d, 6h, 39m, 0s.

I'm assuming that it's only collecting data for 2015. Presumably he's not been pulling data otherwise.

Aye, that's the date they were first seen. Doesn't necessarily mean they were created that day however.Baron Saturday wrote:...

I've noticed the 2015 thing on some data for characters that are considerable numbers of years older, too.

When I scry for my account name, the character whose stats pop up is Astarial's.
If I search by name for one of my other characters, I still get the aelryn bloodmoon account, with astarial as the character, and playtime stats for ast.
My bad for not being observant on the first one.

I'm so glad Nelehein, Medici, Naethandreil and Nizram are all dead and gone. I would've abhorred to see that play time total across the four of them.

If the older databases are integrated, you will see those playtime records soon enough.

Re: Working on a player list.
I'm not sure if this is included already or not, but it would be kind of cool to have the page automatically refresh after about 5 minutes. I can't really think of a good reason other than to be able to play a game on one screen while having the player list on a second monitor. This way you could keep an eye out for that person you are waiting to log in while doing other things.
Other than that it works great! Good job.

I was worried about privacy issues at first but I wanted to snoop at it before I jumped to conclusions. As someone that generally keeps a single character to each login, I can confirm that it works as intended!
This thing is really interesting honestly. I love it. Thanks for the hard work on it!

Re: Working on a player list.
The data you're provided is currently per-account only, not per-character.Aelryn Bloodmoon wrote:...
The reason you see Astarial as the character, is because you last played as Astarial.
That particular functionality will be expanded to have per-character information past only giving their first seen dates.
The content on the page should be updated every ~5 seconds with XHR, for that very purpose.Maladus wrote:...
When I started working on it, that was my primary goal until I ran across Lio's Datum and the features it provided.
If it however does not refresh every ~5 seconds for you, I'll see to getting that fixed.
It could be you're using a very old browser, and I'll have to setup both XMLHttpRequest and XMLHTTP.
Which, truth be told, isn't much of a difference.

Re: Working on a player list.
Right- I'm starting to prepare updating the Traffic code, for better control over the time periods it shows. This based on a suggestion by Shadowy Reality.
* Expect problems in Traffic's functionality.
Those who need to find traffic data, here's a direct link to the directory:
./TRACK
It's lacking some content from there at the time, due to being backed off to my computer until converted.
Sample design is here:

It could very well be updating but I haven't really tested it to be sure.

What about sorting? It doesn't seem to be sorted by anything currently.

Re: Working on a player list.
I would love to see a default alphabetized sorting like on the normal portal PL. Other options would be neat though! Like time on, alphabetized by account name, oldest character currently on to newest made, etc.

Re: Working on a player list.
I'd like to see scrying as an opt in feature, rather than opt out. People who know about the list and who want to use it can opt in. It'd be a bit unfair, especially to newer players, if they're characters are getting logged when they don't even know about this list
