So you're a builder? Great. Give me your worst
Alright, here goes!
When browsing the forum recently, I get the feeling peeps hold the opinion that you can only survive Arelith by powerbuilding. That's shyte and I'll prove you infidels wrong.
Give me the worst build you can think of and I will make it to glory.
There's no rule, I'll go with anything
I'm going to list the (more or less elaborated) builds here and you can choose your favourite
1) Int 10 Wizard (30)
2) Barb/Ftr (3), Bard (21), PM (6), Kensai, [Myrkul]
3) Cha 18 Monk (30), Appraise
4) Dex based 2h melee class
5) Duergar Rogue (3), Monk (3), Wizard (14) [17,8,10,9,8,16], Humility, Tongues
6) Duergar, Favored Soul Bard (x), Sorcerer (x) Harper Scout (x), Humility. [8, 8, 20, 8, 18, 11]

INT 10 Wizard. The entire 30 levels.
Re: So you're a builder? Great. Give me your worst
Only possible with the gift of humility so let's throw some useless gifts on it to remove the ECL reduction.

Re: So you're a builder? Great. Give me your worst
You may be confusing powerbuilding, with building. A powerbuild will stretch capabilities to extremes that generally requires very careful, mapped out levelling with unexpected combinations of clasess, abilities, or likewise. Optimising a build, on the other hand, is not the same thing. Knowing that simple damage/per second is the basic measure of a fighter, and picking feats, abilities, skills and class combinations to maximise the amount of damage inflicted per second, is optimising. For example: working out which spells are the best and most useful, and then building a sorcerer around those spells is optimising, in a fairly obvious manner. Taking 3 levels of paladin with a sorcerer, without reflecting those paladin levels in your RP, is closer to powerbuilding (although in itself is hardly an overpowering combination).
Taking a Svirfneblin Raven totem druid with the Gift of +2 wisdom, adding in some monk levels, and getting Dragon Shape in the very early epic levels, is powerbuilding.
Playing both on Arelith, and PvP arena servers, it's fairly obvious just how wide the gap between building strong characters, and actual real powerbuilding is.

With the "The Entire 30 levels" you mean no INT boost on level up?JediMindTrix wrote:INT 10 Wizard. The entire 30 levels.
Even with 10 INT at lvl 30, a Wiz can do GREAT and fun things.
Re: So you're a builder? Great. Give me your worst
With scrolls and wands purchased from others? Because a 10-INT wizard can't cast any wizard spells. It would basically be a commoner.Yellena wrote:With the "The Entire 30 levels" you mean no INT boost on level up?JediMindTrix wrote:INT 10 Wizard. The entire 30 levels.

Weavemaster.
Any stat combination will do
Courteous Magocracy and the appraise one are a necessity at level 1.

Animal Empathy is druid, ranger, shifter only
Ride is arcane archer, barbarian, blackguard, champion of Torm, fighter, paladin, purple dragon knight, ranger
So I put that to Cha based monk with appraise

How about...
Duergar with 3x Rogue + 3x Monk + 14x Wizard, starting with 9 in all abilities and the rest in CHA then STR.
Raise CHA every 4 levels, don't spend ANY skillpoints, waste all general feats on Skill Focus, and you might not even qualify for any Wizard bonus feats.
For gifts choose Subrace, Humility and Tongues. You arrive at +1 ECL and suffer multiclass XP penalties since Duergar favors the Fighter class.
Choose the least combat-capable familiar (bat?) and give it and yourself some horrendously stupid names so other players can instantly recognize you and cheer you on.
The rest is more equipment than build related, providing tips on optimizing combat suckage:
Sell all your starting gear and buy as much heavy armor as you can until you are heavily encumbered.
Use a light crossbow during melee combat and ALWAYS respawn on dying so you lose what little XP you earned beforehand.

Re: So you're a builder? Great. Give me your worst
I didn't say "Give me a crap build, tell me how to make my life worse ingame and kill myself after starting with a handicap"
I'll take your build and go ingame to be awesome with it
That'd be
Duergar Rogue (3), Monk (3), Wizard (24) [17,8,10,9,8,16], Humility, Tongues
(And he will get great INT 2 in epic levels due to wiz bonus feats and end at 11 INT - depending on what class he starts..)
(Class spread, starting stats, skills (yes, gimme crap skills, but gimme sum), etc) - I'll take care of the gear and other stuff.
Because you know, you can get the most awesome build and use a crossbow in melee, make yourself heavily encumbered, blind, deaf, diseased and starve to death in a corner..
I refuse, that shyte is OP compared to the others

Awesome in combat, or at RP? Power isn't connected to RP ability, the weakest and strongest characters are equally engaging in the hands of a good RPer. If you mean in combat, good luck to you! But evidently the duergar rogue/monk/wizard cannot survive out in the wild in areas usual to its equivalent level.
Re: So you're a builder? Great. Give me your worst
Awesome Alright in combat. I suck at RP. Just ask around.. peeps will confirm this.

Now I want to meet your craptastic duergar wizard to unconfirm it, I'm sure it'd be a laugh!

Not sure if these qualify but...
An evil necromancer, who was forced to be one by his family, but in secret wanted to be a poet and dancer! (Cleric/bard)
A monk acolyte who discovered he was gifted with strange powers (Monk/Sorcerer-True flame)
A highly charismatic Barbarian, who talks more of fighting than actually doing so.
A wizard who grew impatient and poor and needed the tuition funds, so he decided to steal it (Wizard/Rogue)
A beefy, grumpy dude who has specialized in using a weapon, but pays homage to a war like deity to harness the rage in him (Fighter/Barbarian/Cleric)...Oh wait, this was one of my crappy builds.
As you can clearly see, I know nothing of the subtler finesses of optimizing or power building. But you can use those ideas as reference?
Edit: Hail Dark helmet, Leader of the Space-Pufferfish!

And I vote +1 on the 10 INT wizard--with no ranks in Spellcraft.
