Upate on Surgery and Recovery
Just thought I'd post this here since I've had several folks ask me how I was doing.
The surgery went perfect - doc was able to get all the damaged disc material out of my neck and was able to place four spacers between my vertebrate and infuse these spacers with my own bone marrow from my hip - thus helping my neck to grow my own bone. That all went great.
However, recovery from something like this is turning out to be more difficult than I had realized. Some days I feel like I may just come out of my skin, its so painful and depressing ... but I am having more tolerable days now. Staying with my folks - my kids are working to cheer me up and we are watching a lot of movies and playing a lot of Plants Vs. Zombies - my son's favorite game.
The doc says this type of surgery takes about three months to fully recover ... so I expect by the time school starts back up for my kids, I will be an expert in Harry Potter and Shrek.
I am realizing that growing a new neck is very taxing on a body and I must learn to be patient - which is something that almost always eluded me.
I appreciate all your concerns. I imagine it will be a few more days before I dare step back into Arelith as typing is a bit painful at the moment.

I got a harm in my neck too some years ago... Really that recquires loads of time and patience...and after that, exercises to recover mobility and such...
Happy to find you are doing well and heading towards your recovering.
Be well mate.

My mom went through a major operation herself, only last year as well. Knowing how hard it was for her to recover over a period of 6 months was pretty hard to handle, but ultimately it ended up really well.

Currently lost in summer vacation with the Wii Lego games (with my son) and in Skyrim on the pc, while I recover. I had forgotten how awesome these Lego games are .. we've been playing Indiana Jones and Star Wars Lego for the Wii.
