level 30 quest

Post by 420chambers » Sat May 18, 2019 2:56 pm

Can we get like a cool one-per-character-one-time-only quest kinda dealio going on up in hyeer

What would you think of the idea, community of Arelith?

EDIT: bro i meant that it was just one singular quest, not unique ones everytime haha

While neat on paper, you need to remember that the server has, per month, over 1000 unique players on it. It would mean that the DM team would pretty much be busy performing these unique quests with all the time they have instead of running server plots or dealing with problems.

Nitro is right. There's no way the DM's could accommodate everyone with their own unique, personal quest. There are way too many players for that.

They used to do this for PrCs, back in the day. As cool an idea as it is, there just aren't enough DMs to go round. And as much as we try to get good staff in, I guess that just isn't possible, either.

The DMs couldn't run (never mind spend however long building one in the first place) a special quest for every char.

This could work as a scripted event built into the game at the achievement of level 30, but they wouldn't be unique. Maybe one per class, but even that would be a huge and time consuming update to the game.

Even if it were done, the variety of chars would make the scripted quest nonsensical to many, by necessity. Bob the ranger gets a level 30 quest to slay the Gnoll king, but bob the ranger is RP raised by Gnolls and would never harm one.

This is a realy neat idea, and on a much, much smaller server might be possible but as everyone else has said, it's basicaly impossible with arelith. There are hundreds of level 30 characters on arelith. We simply couldn't have time to do quests for them all.
This too shall pass.

(I now have a DM Discord (I hope) It's DM GrumpyCat#7185 but please keep in mind I'm very busy IRL so I can't promise how quick I'll get back to you.)

Viability aside, and out of curiosity - why do you ask?
What kind of quest, with what kind of repercussions?

Would be nice to have something even if small done like this every once in a while. Maybe not specific to only them but to pay some attention to those who aren't in the large groups/factions that usually seem to get the quests/events. Granted this would be difficult to do with any regularity due to limited DM time.

i mean.. there really isn't much stopping anyone from making a small mini-event out of a milestone, just to name a few.
Getting dragonshape.
Hitting lvl 30.
Gaining your shadow has a shadow-dancer.
Gaining any of the epic shapes from shifter.

probably a few others but i cant recall them.

As fun as player run events are they typically become repetitive when that is all you ever see. Since they tend to fall in one of the following. Meetings, Field Trips, planned dungeon runs, or unveiling some new Trick they just learned (feat or something else).

I think creating a level 28 quest for each class would be neato. I know the building in Mount Celestia is just BEGGING to be explored by paladins of great commitment.
