Everything magical that goes wrong is Westin's fault. (Or Thoramind's, or that Alhoon that lives in that pub in that place)

Udos and its Matrons were just tools of the Harbringer
Re: Crazy Arelith conspiracy theories... (not OOC theories)
All of Grunf's characters are really out to destroy Arelith in their own crazy way.
Whatever action one takes IG, con be explained by something logical.

All our lifes are just projected dreams of our characters and what is real is not real.

We're all involved in a massive information blackmailing scam where the dev's mine information over tell logs, emails, private messages etc and sell them onto phone companies, pirates and viagra salesmen.

The necromancers on the island have reached great heights of power, animating beings in distant realms.

I've got one that's sorta based on FL lore:
There were a number of "Dreamers" set around the island, all digging down. Each spoke of the Dreamer, "He Who Dwells in the Hells." One in particular notes that "the deaths of legends will feed the soulforges."
So basically, theory is that the ability of all the adventurers on Arelith to respawn again and again is NOT, in fact, just a gameplay mechanic, but rather the sinister plot of some ancient power.
Make of that what you will. The Mother wrote:"Purple, so purple and wonderful. The light, it glows like the radiant heart. She blinks, and it is gone, she blinks and it appears. . . . Beware when eyes are open. It said to me that all would be one."

Re: Crazy Arelith conspiracy theories... (not OOC theories)
My favorite IC Arelith theory was put forth by the wizard Isil'essar: that Arelith itself was an accident, raised from the waves at one of the largest leyline confluences on Toril as a result of the imperfect use of High Magic in the raising of Evermeet. The many oddities regarding the way magic works there are part of the lasting consequences of this massive spell gone awry, as is the overabundance of attention given the isle by the gods.
Re: Crazy Arelith conspiracy theories... (not OOC theories)
One I heard a long time ago was the great joke. That dwarves and their gods don't exist. They are just hin and the hin pantheon wearing fake beards with pillows shoved down their tops. They are waiting for one day when legend says Corellion himself will thank the dwarves in person for some service and all the 'dwarves' present will whip off their beards and yell " fooled you!"

Another theory is that there are no Male elves, only females that look slightly more masculine.

Arelith is the greatest hospice in the Forgotten Realms,it specializes on people with delusions of grandeur but accepts pretty much anyone who is crazy.
The thing that makes it so sucessful is that once inside the patients have free reign on what they do,as long as they dont try to leave, they can only leave with the consent of their relatives/people who put them there and with the same boat and path so they dont notice the heavy security around the isle's sea frontiers to keep them in

My family were all knights, but none protected those who cannot fight for themselves. They all cared about their noble status more than anything else.I would be a true knight,i would train on the ways of the paladin -Arcavius Ryde

Re: Crazy Arelith conspiracy theories... (not OOC theories)
A few I only half remember hearing about throughout the years:
The white stags near the temple of sylvanus were gifts by that oakfather himself, sent as both watchers and tokens of apreciaton to the city of Myon.
My absurd wizard Afonso had a stupid theory about how gnomes were the aborrent offspring of dwarven and halfling couplings. He meant to test this by somehow set / trap two pc characters of those races into a series of dates and a potential relationship..and then wait for the outcome. ( I have extremely idiotic ideas sometimes. Still sounds hilarious to me.)
This I am pretty sure is based on actual server history, but I only ever got this information as hear say, ages ago: the forest of despair and arelith forest were once just one piece of land. Plagues of termites and fires and likely the malarite foul plots ended up splitting them into two different woodlands.
Arelith having once been occupied by one single, powerful civilization, the Myarts.

The Wharftown treasury was smuggled out of the town before its untimely demise and hidden, and it's just waiting for a group of adventurers that are just the right amount of plucky and knowledgeable in Arelithian history to find it...

The Eye of Andunor - Extraplanar Beacon for the Old God
Before the Flood the Clan Oogooboogoo (as behind every UD plot there is goblins... captured from an other planar the Eye of Andunor, a beacon. In that time the item cannot be hidden because its gleamed through the walls and planes. The Theory is the illthids are using this beacon to gather all and everyone on isle arelith for a Great Sacrifice to Summon Something Greater Old God, which have been closing to the light , like a omnipotent moth...
Which seems to be a nice gate symbol.. which turn planar potions in its direction.. what else it can capable of?

Re: Crazy Arelith conspiracy theories... (not OOC theories)
"Arelith is a 'sieve', for lack of a better term. Everyone who comes to it, came either fleeing something, or being called here. Those born here are unnaturally strong, unnaturally capable. And the realms themselves seem to be arrayed against this pissant little island in the middle of nowhere. The people whom come here? Have the capacity to change the realms in some way. But the gods prefer the status quo, so anyone who might be too. . .troublesome, ends up coming here by hook or by crook. In order to keep their focus inwards instead of outwards, the rules are different here. As some manner of divine pact between heaven and hells alike, they play 'games' against the dwellers of the island. Keeping their focus and letting them think their efforts matter, until finally they are used and undone by the stresses of the island. One more threat to the status quo gone." ~ Jacob Swift after taking an inordinate amount of halfling herbal supplements.

The Map Maker Gnomes are not making a map of Arelith THEY ARE MAKING Arelith! Everything they add becomes reality, they are actually the gods of all of Toril and they've been crafting the world via their map rooms since the start of time.

Svirfneblin Freya played out all underdark races, destroyed Udos and used Andunor to make them harmless while working in Library but in fact gathering information for svirfneblins and largest secret library on Arelith to whose enterance only reached three players on whole server in its all existance.

Re: Crazy Arelith conspiracy theories... (not OOC theories)
My idea is that arelith is an island that the chosen of the gods specifically go to. Even those that don't worship gods are spectacular in someway. If you think about it, level 30 characters are close to demigods. So instead of cataclysmic events happening elsewhere in the world, Arelith is the place the gods decided that apocalyptic events would occur or be thwarted, depending on what happens. Every single dm event is a test by the gods.
Because everything happens on this little island and it seems to be virtually unnoticeable to common folk outside the island. In fact it's hard to come by it apparently lore-wise.
