I really have no clue how any of these "only take a few hours" a day/week positions in a faction/group are viable at all when you won't be making meaningful connections that provide said role in said time to begin with (at least for me that is)

That being said, one cool thing about having a character that progresses really slowly is upur inventory/equipment ends up being a history musuem. Like a wayferer coat from whartfown, some obscurely named hand me down boots from an even older character, gloves that were traded from some other retired character, etc.

It'd be trading a casual-hostile environment for a casual-hostile environment where everything is centralized, easy to get too, and finding parties is much easier.
