Walking away while someone's attacking you.

I was involved in a PVP today, and the enemy combatant was over-encumbered, and so could only 'walk away' to retreat. Unfortunately, the act of them walking away kept kicking me out of combat range, and thus out of melee combat, and made it basically impossible for me to engage them in a full round of combat.

What's the policy when this happens? It seems to me a bit like an exploit.

Manually run in front of them and attack.

Fleeing is not an exploit. If you were both moving at the same speed, you still wouldn't be able to get an attack off without haste.

If I ran in front of them and attacked, they'd just walk away in the opposite direction, Einstein.

I did not say that fleeing was an exploit. Don't put words in my mouth.

This person was able to basically completely negate my combat round by walking away at a reduced movement speed. The player did not provoke any attacks of opportunity, and was able to keep me from engaging in a full combat round, by merely turning around and walking away over-encumbered.

If it's not an exploit, then good. I'll start doing it, and I encourage everyone else to do it too.
