Discussion of Suggestion: Ayleid Steps

Curious what people think. It's a lot, but maybe something could come out of it, something inspired by it.

Seems like it would require a lot of work to set up from the developers.

And also:
• Parties go to the same place, but maybe a small chance of separation?
• Yes, you can get dropped in front of Abazurr.
This doesn't sound like fun at all. If I gather up a party I don't want to have a random dice rolled to see if we can stay together when we go adventuring, and I definitely wouldn't want to be dropped in front of an epic boss on a level 12 character out exploring.

It sounds like one of those things that's really cool in singleplayer games, but doesn't really work so well in the transition to a multiplayer environment.

Does this mean we can add Fargoth, though?

Sometimes we do that with the lost desert when people don't transition properly.

It would absolutely be a risk to use one of these steps. The ones in lower-level areas might be safer. The reason for randomness is that it -is- a lot of work to create something even close to this, and to make it constantly interesting otherwise would involve a lot more steps, something so complex it would be hard to begin to map out. Instead, randomness keeps it from being mapped, and it doesn't lose it's flair, it's risk.
