If i set my deity to Helm and there is no alter can i pray?

Post by CharlesK » Mon Oct 09, 2017 6:42 am

Hi all,
1) When I am on the Island, I look in the temple and see no area for Helm and many other deities.
If i set my deity to helm will I still be able to pray to raise my piety without an alter?

2) Where else in the game would I find an alter to Helm.

I am very new to the game, but not new to D&D

Regards
Chuck

You can pray in any altar.

There are altars to helm. Just not necessarily in the temple in Cordor.

you can pray in any helm!
joke aside. if you can't find an altar of your god (0,4% piety gain)
you should find one that give 0,2% piety gain
i think there is some that give 0,1% after some random priest or priestess did unspeakable things on it, so it ain't holy/unholy no more.

Worth to note furthermore, is that any character with the Art Crafting profession can make an altar, with a pick from three models, that can also be custom named and described.

It takes a cleric of Helm, or a character with the (un)holy character creation gift to be able to consecrate it to Helm specifically, but once consecrated, the designation is permanent.

So if you absolutely cannot find a pre-consecrated altar, there's always creating or buying an altar made through the Art Crafting profession, and then finding a cleric of Helm to consecrate it.

As stated above, you can also pray and sacrifice at any altar, but for lesser piety gain.

This is a common problem for those who worship less popular gods. Which is why I always thought in cordor and the UDcity there should be one altar in the city that gives you .4 piety regardless for those who might worship a god like Gargos,, Talona etc that its nearly impossible to find a priest to.

Ask around Cordor in character. Someone will help you find what you're looking for :D

Helm’s Church is battlefield, and the altar is your shield! Bash those goblins to become pious in the eyes of thy god whose domain is war.
