Didnt get +2 Con creating shield dwarf. Bug or confused?

Post by CharlesK » Wed Oct 04, 2017 5:58 pm

Hi all,
I am brand new to NWN and Arelith. I played D&D 3.5 many ages ago in high school, and 2 months ago go into a group playing D&D 5E.

I created a shield dwarf and took set my CON to 16 and put the extra points to make strength 18.
I expected that once I selected subrace as shield dwarf this would raise my CON to 18. It didnt happen.

Am i misunderstanding that Shield Dwarf should be getting a +2 to Con?

P.S.

Regards,
Chuck

http://wiki.arelith.com/Category:Race#Shield_Dwarf

Look at Changes On Selection.
there isn't any change from a normal dwarf to a shield dwarf. it's the Default Dwarven race

it's a pretty good page, if you wanna see what Changes On Selection is made.

Shield dwarf +2 con is the default dwarf subrace abilities: That is to say, you get this +2 con when you make your character, not when you select shield dwarf.

You're right. Participating in the forums was a mistake. Won't do this again.

The +2 is built in for the base races. If you set the CON to 16 within the character creation screen, you paid only the amount of points it would take another race to raise their CON to 14.

If you raise it to 18, you'll pay only the number of points another race would pay to get it to 16.

Either way, if you want 18 CON on a dwarf, you have to actually raise your CON up to 18 within character creation.

Yes, anything that's from gifts or Arelith-custom subraces get applied after you select that gift/subrace in game. What we're talking about here is the NWN-default +2 CON for dwarves, which applies during character creation before you enter the game.
