Ride skill requirement

Is it hard skill points, or can it be done via enchanted gear and such?

More ride features will come in time, as will fitting out one's horse with superior gear, and adding saddlebags etc. I'm in no great rush to do that quickly though. This update has been the work of many weeks and I'm pretty exhausted. Think its long past time I got some actual play time in.

How are horses worked on Arelith? Can you just.. ride any horse, like you ones you find near the caravan master by the arcane tower?

I am afraid game turns into grab/steal horse and ride off, as people will have access to it en masse

Wait for a reset and then check. Changelogs are usually rolled out before the actual patch hits the servers.

Yea I just leveled up and put 8 point into Ride (hard points, nothing from gear or Dex) and i'm getting the same notice.
Must be a bug or need another reset. Will check again tomorrow

This does sound like a bug, will investigate.

Seems to still not work. I can use some of the mount actions to assign the mount to my character, but not actually mount up onto the horse.

I literally just tested it on the surface server, with 11 points in ride on an elven horse before commenting. ^^

What's your class/level/skill points for ride (FYI I believe this doesn't include the dex bonus)/what horse did you try and which server?

Just tested it there, I have exactly 8 base points in ride (7 total with -1 from Dex) and it worked without a hitch =D

Definitely have 8 ranks (11 after mods). Rogue/Fighter, Cordor Server, both horses North of Cordor. Just tried surface, all horses outside Arcane Tower weren't working either.

@Orian, were you a paladin?

@Dreams raw ranks, or total with dex? Do you get a message or just not allowed?

I'll probably need a DM on to test anymore right now, but i've checked cordor server horses and they seemed rideable by a paladin.

I was on my Wizard, full Wiz levels so far, I also tested it on both Surface and Cities and it worked both times no problem.

Is the horse reward still existing?

I read Summon Mount was disabled but usable with horse reward, is that it's only current purpose now? Or can you still get it in the place of 8 ride ranks?

Summon Mount is disabled for everyone except existing paladins with the Horse Reward. The Horse Reward itself is being phased out as an option.

There's no message anymore, but when I click 'Individual Mount' and select a horse, nothing happens. I've tried on different horses. Usually the same bug occurs when a character has summoned any creature, and is usually fixed by resting once. Doesn't seem to be the case with this bug.

We will need different spawn of horses because once most people put ranks into riding, you cannot dismount without it being stolen.

It happened often on my Elf and only few people could ride it, now when whole server can ride i am afraid we will see a massive horse thievery by people simple jumping on nearest horse and galloping off!


Maybe horse could work like animal companion and you would buy it from stables, with ability to spawn that horse once per day...though if Irongron has already somethin planned we need to wait.
