The best mages understand that clerics and priests are a necessity because it is only they who are driven by the cosmological essences and entities of the world. The arcanist is burdened by Magus Oblige, the obligation and responsibility of the magus to act without heed to cosmological "Good" and "Evil", for while Mystra saw fit to lay those restrictions upon the divine, the arcane has no such shackles. If it can be done to further magic, research, knowledge, and the prowess of the Art, it should and must be done, because it is only the arcane who may do so: the priests are, rightfully so, tasked with carrying the Word of God. Ergo both sides have their place in the world, but it is eminently the place of the magus to disregard The Divine Way in order to further All Magic, as to artifically hinder yourself is to ignore Magus Oblige, and ignore the signs that Mystra herself has placed into the Weave.
