•Cannot use scrolls other than Raise Dead, Resurrection, Lesser Restoration, Restoration and Greater Restoration.
•Cannot use wands.
•Kensai can now use any potion.

I admit, I am a bit sad at the lost of Permahaste but talking on the Discord's sold me to roll with it and make the most of the change.

I'm genuinely curious about what's ruined it for people, comparing to before, you've lost:
•50% move speed.
•+10 discipline.
•+2 constant AC (in exchange of getting 4 hasted now).
In turn you've gotten:
•Potions.
•Restoration line scrolls.
•+10 listen (and possibly still +10 spot).
•Haste compatibility.
•New possibilities with classes.
Some history I've learned on the move speed bonus: It was originally added to counter the now long defunct speed penalty from wearing heavy armor, with that gone, there was no longer a point in having it, it just stuck around... for a long time.

I built my character to make the best of kensai. Being able to keep up with people while stealth was a lot of fun, I would sneak into everywhere. I made my character immune to mind spells, potions, attacks of opportunity/spell resistane to make him more fun as a kensai running around battle like a ninja. Loss of discipline means I am easily knocked down and killed now. The changes may be great, but I would definitely make a different character than the one I have now.

I'm not mad about the changes at all, but because my character's RP relied on the whole "haste" for movement thing, that's the only reason why I'm going to roll Nathan. Besides, he was only a temporary character anyways. I give you Kudos Cortex. I will probably play another Kensai again at some point that will take advantage of what you guys came up with. It just isn't Nathan.

Ultimately, I just wish having the new version of the path would have been optional.

There is also a role play aspect that such a profound change will have on your character. If you spent 30 levels role playing his speed being a defining characteristic, you would have to explain why he is so slow now. Easier to start fresh maybe.

Detecting stealthers. Normally you can just use True Sight to detect anybody not around a corner -- not having it makes you pretty susceptible to anyone with a brain and points into hide/move silent.Iceborn wrote:I have to ask, though...

A soft counter against stealth, since they've no way to detect stealth reliably without True Seeing, I figured they needed the help in that regard.Iceborn wrote:I have to ask, though...

If you're asking "why not spot", it's due to how it'd interact with disguises, but that might not be the case anymore, and they may still get +10 spot and +10 listen.

I built a char based on kensai being hasted. Removing that and all movement speed bonus means my char is now unplayable. This was in his RP. It was in his combat style as well. And it wasn't a small thing.
I don't have a problem with changes, but I wish the devs would make up their minds what they want out of kensai and stick with it.

I think rebuilds should be given for existing Kensai if they wish.. this is such a radical change.
Also what does "no more bonus speed" mean? Do monks lose class speed? Does haste not work? Or does this just mean you don't get a bonus for being kensai but you can still get barbarian fast movement and haste potions etc?
