Update - Raising the dead
I know...your expecting some big complaint from me...but honestly...I LOVE THIS.....alternate options, making clerics more valuable, the removal of the pvp death penalty. Love the update! THANK YOU DUNSHINE!!!!
Re: Update - Raising the dead
I was going to make some reference to how awesome favoured souls are now.
You'll all be missed.
Solidly behind the update.
Though I am curious about the change to the PvP respawn timer back from 20-5, as I thought that'd had a posative reception, and the changes to scrolls/raising won't address what that was designed to solve, IE to stop people being killed, repsawning and running right back into the action.

Re: Update - Raising the dead
Honestly, I hated the 20 mins, it does nothing but punish the player that has died and is stuck waiting in the death zone doing NOTHING for 20 minutes....maybe thats fun for some....but boring as heck for others.

Re: Update - Raising the dead
As always nothing is set in stone, and we might make some changes later on.
People running back in after being killed is a clear breach of the 24 hour rule though, so should be reported.

time to dust off those vaulted Favored Souls with this update.

Re: Update - Raising the dead
This looks way cooler. Hated the old timers, honestly kind of disliked raise scrolls being sold..
It's a great compromise. Would it be possible that cleric-consecrated Player Made altars could have some sort of.. Extra consecration option added (for a TON of piety) that lets them function as raise-altars?
healer clerics partying tonight
..do i have any favored souls..

Re: Update - Raising the dead
I approve. It definitely makes it so you need to RP to raise someone from the dead.
Though my cleric partner may not be amused, since I'll have to use my now-limited scrolls to raise him.
Since scrolls are no longer a thing, can we ping DMs to raise (unimportant) NPCs if they're killed?

Re: Update - Raising the dead
Yes, you can.
Re: Update - Raising the dead
I expect characters who randomly hoarded rezz scrolls until now to make >>INSANE<< profit.
Maybe even to the extend that might require some manner of moderation from the DM/Dev team.

Re: Update - Raising the dead
Maybe make it so those unimportant NPCs that Kitten was talking about can be raised simply by using the -pray or -kneel emote. If praying can raise someone, and unimportant NPCs are, well, unimportant then it would save the DM team some effort as well as speeding up the whole immersion thing if a simple prayer (or what looks like a prayer) could raise an NPC on the side.
Re: Update - Raising the dead
This makes way more sense for a server that wants to make dying actually matter. Being able to buy raise dead scrolls from every Tom, Dick and Harry NPC was always silly in such a setting.

Re: Update - Raising the dead
I'd like to still see Raise Dead scrolls available, just less available, and more expensive.
No one else has ever loved this way before.

Re: Update - Raising the dead
i expect resurrection scrolls to cost about 40,000 - 50,000 gold each based on the sheer consumption of literally every resource a player has access to, time gold and xp.

T'iss a very interesting change.
I'm not entirely sure what to make of it in the glance, so I guess I'll have to get a feel of it once I'm playing.

Re: Update - Raising the dead
low level parties are doomed, the economy has been hyper inflated out of nowhere "ensign warp nine, any heading, engage!" going from 1500 per scroll to 20,000 minimum if absolutely no profit is to be made off of all that effort.

Re: Update - Raising the dead
Since people will be taking the fallen to altars now, can we make portalling with corpses possible? It will still force players to leave the area to tend their friends and some places take forever to get to in the first place.

Re: Update - Raising the dead
clerics can start casting raise dead at level 9, and the xp penalty from low level deaths is minuscule anyway.
..Also almost every low level 'dungeon' is two screens from a starter city. Two screens. Portalling with corpses seems like a good suggestion though! I kind of always hated that restriction.

Re: Update - Raising the dead
sorry I hate this change, find it extremely inconvenient for lowbies and new players and hope to see it changed soon.
if you play in garbage time zones like myself, theres not always a cleric online. If youre playing for the 4hours you have avaliable for the evening doing a dungeon with your buddies and you die, or your friends die, thats it for the adventure when all you wanted to do was progress a little in levels. thats not very cash money.
what if you die in a dm event and want to come back and enjoy the fireworks? what about dead npcs crucial to mechanics like laurik? what about dead Npcs in general?
there are not a lot of ig module altars. why would say, a sharran or an evil duder pray at a triad temple to get their buddy saved? the concept of taking a pilgrimage to the shadow plane to get my pal saved by shar at level 4 sounds cool, but its actually going to be massively inconvient.
3/10. i think this line if thinking is a good way to go, but this is short sighted in execution.
id recommend making them cheap or original cost to scribe and let the market control itself, keep piety charge but lower it a little, and include regular pc made altars. id also recommend letting there be more book of souls easier to find in loot matrix. *ideas from marsi :>
thank and bless.

Re: Update - Raising the dead
The piety is insane for the spell.
In epic places my cleric when using top spells very regularly fell to like 20+- piety.
Now when someone dies i cant either use top spells or raise him.Not using top spells results often in people dieing (yeah when you try to preserve piety).

Could we get a list of the Server altars?

Re: Update - Raising the dead
Also, can we make all dieties have the chance for combat god saves? A follower of a crafting god won't be nearly as worried about using that scroll to raise their friend during a trip as someone who might lose their own God save later for it.

To be clear, the piety cost is only when cast from scrolls.flower wrote:The piety is insane for the spell.

The piety change is _Only_ from scroll casting.
Not hard casting.
