Remove or decrease the green light from greensteel?
It's a small thing but what do people think of removing or at least decreasing the green light from greensteel?
I think it's mostly annoying, overdone and doesn't make sense, the blade looks like normal steel but there's a five meter cone of wierd green light around your character.
Everywhere you go with your weapons drawn just has this same constant lighting, a shame on a server (and in an engine in my opinion) that has pretty cool environment lighting.

its part of the inherent magic of the metal when forged.
Yes I can sign

Yes, please! Greensteel light is one of the most annoying things ever. It messes with your game lighting too, making the game graphics look very bad.

It's imaginary so the properties can be anything, rainbow emojiEbonstar wrote:its part of the inherent magic of the metal when forged.

This is also how I feel when Drow try to ban one of NWN's primary colors in the game's already very limited palette from being selected on clothes.

I haven't seen it happen lately, don't give people ideas.

I really don't like the greensteel light. It's ugly as hell and messes with the game lighting - Ultravision for example, will not have its customary purple brightening effect on your screen when coupled with the greensteel weapon lighting effect.

I would also very much like to see the light property removed, though for a mechanical reason: It gives stealthers carrying greensteel a -10 penalty to hide at night, making gs weapons pretty detrimental to them.

Another way to go is to add an option to remove enchantments at the basin for a nominal fee. Stealthers and those that really want it gone can make it so.

I kind of like the green glow from a thematic sense, but I'd honestly prefer it to have no glow.

It does seem kinda overkill that a stealther has to be punished for carrying a greensteel weapon.

Can we toggle it, along with all visual VFX for weapons?

Re: Remove or decrease the green light from greensteel?
I think I suggested it's removal few times in the box in the past years. Its annoying and it doesn't even make any sense. My character has a light spell on themselves and then when I draw my sword the poisonous dim green light takes dominance (even though its the weaker light source) and my whole screen goes dark green and I cant see s***. That's what I think about the greensteel light. my player experience.

I make use of the green glow all the time and have my gamma setting so that it is only a light green area affect. Now lets be honest here, if you know a weapon has a glow as stealth character they you might want to be more character playing then OOC stat looking at things. After all, this is
A) an RP server with high PVP.
B) Greensteel is effectively starmetal from the source books which as part of the very ore.
C) Arjale can only be found in 1 or 2 places that I know of now so has become rarer than it used to be.
it would be nice to a toggle for the glow but in short if you get a glowing weapon act accordingly from an RP stand point.
